Default B20 crank in P72 block?

I've tried to find some info on this for the last hour, but can't find anything.....

I have a bunch of parts leftover from a failed B20 build (JE 11.5:1 84.5mm pistons, Eagle (89mm?) h-beam rods, balanced crank) and was offered a good deal on a B16B bottom end. I'm thinking of building some sort of mix and match setup by I'm trying to see what parts would work best. The CTR setup was hydrolocked so it bent a rod, nicked the cylinder wall, and I haven't had a chance to check out the crank.
Here's what I'm thinking (I'll be using a P72 head):
Use the P72 block with the B20 crank and eagle rods and run 81.5mm pistons or
Sleeve the P72 block, same setup as above but use the 84.5mm pistons I have.

So, does the LS/B20 rotating assembly fit in a P72 block? I've been told that I may run in to clearance issues with the oil squirters and the girdle. Has anyone tried this? Or am I better off incorporating the short stroke B16B crank in to this build somehow?

some people done it and swear the crank hits the squirters...some have done it and swear it cleared.
some just block the squirters to get more oil pressure, as they feel they won't need the squirters running forged pistons.

i havent used this setup personally but ive read quite a bit about it. if it were me, i would use the B20 crank over the B16 crank and you will need to incorporate LS/B20 rods in the block and in the end you should have around 10ftlbs of torque more than a GSR setup of equal build.

I'm running this setup and I have my oil squirters plugged. If money allows have the block sleeved and run those 84.5 pistons.

So the only real advantage of running a P72 block over a PR4 is the crank girdle then? I was thinking that the block would be nice to use because of the oil squirters.

I think sleeving is out of the question for at least a year. It's going to cost me over $1,500 to do it in town and I'm not even sure that there's a competent shop to do it. I have a cracked B20 in the garage that I might use for sleeving instead.

Thanks for the help.
