question about hight clearence
the situation:
ok, for several months iv been riding around in my cb (92 accord) on a set of skunk2 coilovers (the sleeve overs) matched with kyb's... they work beautifly, only problem is i could never get them to go down low enough and tuck the rubber, even when they were set at the lowest position...
this afternoon i removed the shocks and shaved off the metal brackets that mount the brake-lines to the shock, so that the shock itself can sit lower in the wishbone part that connects it to the car... this worked great, my problem is now after all that work, i get the tires rubbing horibly, after several adjustments i get it sitting alright... my questions are:
1.) how much clearence can i safly have from the bottom of the shock, to the drive axal of the wheel
2.) is there some ***-backwards way i didnt think of to alow the car to sit lower, and eliminate the rubbing... to be honest im not sure what the tire was rubbing, it wasent the fender, and i have my inner wheel well (the plastic ****) removed.
3.) i also managed to strip either the bolt, or wishbone part itself on the passenger side, i have about 4mm of space between the shock and axal, i need to replace it b4 i can drive it anywere, but could i just geta longer bolt, and nut for the other side, and use them to clamp it safely?
