Default T-belt has nicks on it

Pics are worth a thousand words

Rubbing against something? Its an Advance belt, so I woudlnt doubt it being deffective or something. I cant think of what would do this though.

What's wrong with an Advance belt? What about Advance water pump? =\ As long as you do the change at the 60k marks, it should be fine... right? Who's had a correctly installed Advance snap before 60k?

Make sure that your idler pulley bearing isn't frozen or going bad. Take this warning seriously or suffer the consequences.

It looks like it is rubbing at a certain spot on the cover,
if so,the cover should be marked as well..

The only place the outer surface of the belt makes contact
is at the tensioner pulley..

If the pulley bearings were going bad,it might create a
drag/fricton there and scar the belt,So check that too..

I'm stupid, I had the belt off to do my front main last month. I didnt replace the pully, but the belt has about 350 miles on it.

Yeah I definatly remembered something last night. When I last put the belt on, I forgot to put tension on the belt and started it. It scared the **** out of me, but it was flapping around. Thanks for the help

Nice work

At least you caught it before it became a problem. I wore the teeth almost flat on my timing belt in two months because it was too loose. Good thing I caught it before it snapped!

How did you tension it? I used the "hanger" method, and it's working out great.

I put tension on it per the worshop manual's instructions - get it on and everything then turn the engine over 90 degrees counter clockwise, then tighten the tensor.
