AMB Transponder question.
I recently wired in my AMB Transponder in my 1992 Civic CX. It is mounted 8.5 inches above the ground on the front bumper support, it has a completely unobstructed view of the track.
Since I have removed the clock from the dash I used the positive and negative wires from that plug. I did make sure that the positive that I was using was the switched wire.
I could not get the transponder to read at the track (I had to use one of the cordless AMB's that the club had). I was wondering if the lead from the clock was not strong enough to transmit a signal. The green light does go on when ignition is on.
Please let me know if I should return the AMB for a new one or just find another power source.

Sounds like it is a location issue. 8.5" above the track is pretty damn high, I like to see them only 4 or 5 inches up.
Also, they are directional, do you have it mounted 90 degrees out? They have to be mounted so that the long direction on the face is in line with the car front-rear. The beam pattern is a cone shape, but only in that one dimension. Turn it sideways and it won't work worth a crap.
Also, how can it have an unobstructed view of the track if it is on the front beam? Have you completely removed the front bumper cover? Remeber, the beam coming off of it is a cone shape, if it is 8" off the track, you will need an unobsturcted (IE no rad support, or rad etc etc) opening of a 12" circle where the lower part of the bumper cover normally sits.
I have mine mounted to an alluminum bracket that hangs down off of the rear main front-rear unibody beam, just to the left of the spare tire well, and is about 5 inches from the track.
Sorry, can't provide pics, the car is in the body shop...........yet again.......
damn Nissans!

It is possible that you have a bad transponder. I bought one from AMB last season that was bad. It made for a very frustrating weekend.
Contact AMB and have them send you a new one.
