It Wont shift, unless manually shift
got an Accord, Automatic, I have a CEL, but dont know how to read it.
Anyway, My problem is when I put it into drive, it wont go, although, If i Manually shift it, itll go ( put it into L then 2 etc...)
Can anyone help?
Like I said, it has Check engine light, so it could be the automatic trans lock sylenoid, but I dont know how to check the codes. is it the same as Civics? OBD1? put a jumper wire in the port and check the number the light blinks?

i had this same problem. i have an '03 accord cp. ex and after i'd had it for about 2 months the transmission would delay on its shifts and the rpm's would get up into the 5000-6000 range without me accelerating hard at all and then finally shift. it would only do this on occasion before it finally wouldn't shift at all and i had to get a new transmission. luckily it was under warranty and we didn't ahve to pay for it.

If it's a 91, obd1, use the blue plug and count the blinks. Long blinks for 10 space, and short blinks one's space. Example: 3 long blinks, and 2 short blinks would be code 32. It may have more than one code, so go through it a few times. Good luck

I belive its a 91 Accord, mabey you know the engine size? </TD></TR></TABLE>
Because there are different methods to finding the code, depending on what year Accord it is. Engine matters because certain years w/ the V6 have extended warranties. So, yes, it does matter.
More importantly, you need to get the code before anything else. The code may tell you the exact problem, or it may just let you know something else is wrong.

.. of course it matters. Different trannies can have different "common" problems and specific ways to be fixed.

All accord tranmission starting from about 90 on up are electronically controlled. IF the computer does not tell it to shift, it won't.
Your selector lever could be the cause of the problem -multiple ranges selected- computer sees the car in Drive and Park at the same time and therefore will not let car move.......

ok, thank you all for the help, this is actually for my friend, he is out of town and this started happening to him, and I am not familiar with accords. I am going to have to make a visit to go see if I can fix his problem.
