honda accord lx issues
This is going to be rather lengthy, sorry.
1992 Honda Accord LX would run fine and then it would just up and quit. Changed the fuel filter first and that didn't make any difference. Took car to a repair shop and they said that it was the ignition module. I had them replace it even though it was just replaced by the same shop within the last two years????
Got car back and it still ran like crap and the tachometer needle jumps all over the place. Took the car back they called me and said that it needs plugs and wires. Okay, I myself get the plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor and proceed to replace them myself. When I pull the plug wires, there is oil filling the ports that the spark plugs are in.
I think to myself, I bet this will make them misfire some. I now proceed to replace the valve cover gasket and all associated seals along with the plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
Car runs alot better but under slightly hard acceleration, it still misses and the tach jumps all around and the car will occasionally still just up and die. Car will restart after a minute after dying.
Anyone know what I should check now? I do not want to take it to the repair shop that I have been because they are going to tell me it's something else that is bad and I'll have to give them more of my money!
I tried doing a search and wasn't having any luck. Par for the course!!!

if plugs, wires, cap and rotor plus all the seals didnt fix that then I dont know what to tell you...I had the same problem with mine and replaced everyting and it ran like new...but I also changed the oil..u might wanna try that..take about 45 minutes of ur time and 4 quarts of oil and a new oil filter...no big deal...try it just incase
Replacing components is not enough, now verify that they are working, ex: check the resistance of the plug wires, make sure your spark plugs are gap properly, then check your fuel pressure, then check your ignition coil or module working(here you will need a multi meter) then check your EGR valve and check if you have vacuum leak.
If all above working, now time to check your compression – leak down test
Ooh check your battery / terminals and alternator, check your belts too.
Check, Search, Fix until you happy with your car. Done deal

Fuel filters rarely cause this type of problem....have you check your fuel pump?Fuel pumps can cause this problem when they are dying

reason to use Honda OEM parts only...who knows where they got that part from(not saying ur shop is bad).

First of try cleaning your injectors and try runing some seafoam through the intake via the brake booster line. Also remove and clean your ICV, screen, and the throttle body plate with intake cleaner.
Total cost to you less than $15
Seafoam $8 (use 1/2 for cleaning intake and other 1/2 in fuel tank)
FI/Intake cleaner $5
jumping tach usually means vaccum leak. Find it and fix it.

As for your RPM jumping around, go around the Intake Manifold and vacuum hoses with a carb/brake cleaner and spray around that area to see if you can hear the idle drop. If so, you got a vacuum leak somewhere.
