Default Another "wont start after swap." She STARTED! Still need help.

K just did an LS swap and it cranks but wont turn over, sprayed a tiny bit of start fluid in the intake and i kicked for a seconds but went back to cranking. My question is, is my firing order right and i found a plug that didnt have a place to hook up and want to see what it is.' the color on the plug wires is Yellow and Red

well on my brother's teg we did a ls swap also. most likely its the sparkplug wires that are out of order. not sure on what the order was its been a while. but just to look at someone's Ls thats run good and use that. but if its not that then make sure timing is correct, check fuel pump, make sure everything is pluged up and about the wire you were talking about, did you use the wire harness that came with the motor or did you use the one from your car???

very first thing you should do is check for spark.

no spark? check your engine wiring harness and grounds, and dizzy.

^ that solved my won't-start-after-swap problem.

judging from your picture it looks like your sparkplugs are out of order. check to see what the firing order is in a haynes manual or something and adjust accordingly.

***EDIT*** i just saw your missing plug. that has to be hooked up. if that's an LS wiring harness there is 100% definetly a place for it to plug into. get under your car and just look everywhere, it's probably just in a tricky spot.

make sure you have the ground wire grounded to the thermostat housing.

if your fireing order is wrong. the motor will shake REALLY bad when ur trying to crank. a lot of times it is a grond wire. also double check your timming on the camgear/crank side too see if ur off. if you know how to do a spark plug test to see if ur getting spark. take a screwdriver and listen to the injecters to see of ur getting gas.

I agree. I know for sure the firing order is wrong. Without giving you a pic this is how you should have the wires on the dist. cap: bottom left #1, bottom right #2, top left #3 and top right #4. When you look across the valve cover the wires are found in this order 4 3 2 1 from left to right. Hope this helps.

Aight guys i messed with it for another hour or 2. The timing is fine, we got it to start once and it idled for about 30 seconds and we shut it off and it would start again, only sputtered. So it is getting fuel, spark, and the grounds are good. Now i am just stumped. Everything seems ok, and i think the firing order might be different because i am running an EF dizzy that i converted to OBD1, but i tried all the firing orders. still got nothing. Its cranking fine and it will just sputter. Anyone got an other ideas. I am out of them lol. Oh i also tried different plugs and cleaning the ones that were in it, they were black as hell.

block off air to the throttle body with your haand or have someone do it for you, itll suck fuel into the motor well enough to usually get it started if you have spark and good compression.
