Where to get a roll cage fabbed for the EG hatchbacks?
Ever since I got my 92 Civic hatch CX I've been pretty worried to drive the car.
Reason being, it's such a small car, low to the ground, and by looking at it if there was a high impact side colision it could be fatal to the driver.
So, I have been looking around to see if anyone makes pre- fabbed roll cages for the cars... I found Autopower Industries, and there cages look nice and seem like they would offer good reinforced side protection, and front and rear protection for the driver.
I have looked for places that could fabricate a custom roll cage for it, but, no luck..
So, my questions for you guys are.. Are there any other companies besides Autopower that make pre-fabbed roll cages for the civics? Do any of you have a roll cage in your civic, and if so, did you buy it pre fabbed, or did someone fab it for you, and who did the work? Also, any info on places that fab roll cages would be great.
I'm in Maryland also, so... places near maryland or the surrounding states would be appreciated.

WTF? I'd think that there would be more that $200 in tubing used to makea 10-point roll cage. What material did they use?

Also, there are a lot of people here that believe that you're worse off with a cage in a street car because of the risk of hitting your head on the bars. At the very least I would urge you to use the SFI rated padding if you do put in a cage.

Piper motor sports (Sterling, VA) caged my EK. $2200 for a full cage with paint. I stripped most of the interior before I went down which saved me some bucks. I have a full cage including roof bars, sill bars and a forward section that goes through the dash board. I'm pretty happy with the install, it's right up in the roof line so, the forward section is mostly invisible from the outside and it's not in the way when I get in and out. I don't have door bars because it's a daily driver but, they'd be easy to install if I want to compete.
I drive in the street with a 5 pt harness so, I'm not worried (much) about slamming into the bars in an accident. I have certified padding on the bars so my head won't splash if I get in a wreck.
Bolt in cages are always a compromise because they have to be small enough to get into the car.
Piper's got a long wait list for installs so, it's best to get in line.

I have an autopower 4 pt. It's behind the driver so I can't hit it. I also have BSCI FIA approved padding and four pt seat belts for those rare passengers. I had some removable side impact bars added. They're pretty low so they're not too much trouble for daily driving. Around here, there are lots of offroad shops that can do custom roll cages. It might have something to do with my proximity to the desert.
You know, the only think I was unhappy about with the cage is that, when they weld to the sill, you can't get behind it to paint over the bare metal. The welding practically explodes the paint off the back of the sheet metal.
I ended up filling my sills with Polyurathane foam which I hope prevents the bare metal from rusting.
