Feel ripped off by honda dealer
Recently I brought my Accord to a honda dealer because the SRS light stays on. Before going there I already check the code which was 9-3 - Faulty driver's seat belt bucke switch. Since the seat belt is covered under life time warranty by Honda, I assumed I didn't need to pay anything, and the service guy who took my key also said so. However, at end I was presented a bill of $85. The same guy said, "I am sorry, Honda will only pay for the repair, not the diagnosis." What diagnosis! Just repeat reading the code which I have already told them? Felt strongly being ripped off by this dealer.
What is the meaning of the dealer?
They are their to deal with our valet, they at least fix your seatbelt, but my Dealer over here, rip $550.00 from me by installing rattling Aluminum Cat cover under my car, which I took off later.

if you have already paid the money go get your money back,,
if something is under warranty customer pays ZERO...the diagnose is part of the repair.. how are they suppose to know what to fix if they do not diagnose it first ..
Go back to dealer , talk to the mamager, and ask to give you the money back.if he won't, ask that they give you the phone # for Honda district manager and give him ( her ) a call.
You are right you were totally ripped off if you had to pay a penny..and especially since you were told there was no charge to begin with ..

Not only what he said, find another Honda dealer, one that is HONEST.....this dealer does not deserve your business.....he is double diping.... getting paid for labor twice (once by honda and once by you)

i cant stand how a lot of dealerships are non-honest places. i try to avoid the honda dealerships at all costs ... however, i might have to take my car to the dealership to get some recals taken care of ...

I'm very lucky. Many people at the Honda dealership near my house treat me like a normal, everyday customer... till I tell them that I am the nephew of the person who signs all the paychecks
Those people are afraid to rip me off or even **** me off, so I'm pretty lucky. All and all though, Wolfchase Honda is pretty good though, not very much to worry about at all.

he'll most likely get his $85 back....Kinda shady that the dealer scammed him for $85....I would not buy a car from them or recommend them to someone else either...........

In this case why would you want to
#1 Purchase service material
#2 purchase tools
#3 Purchase a rather expensive part
or
#1 go to the dealer where it all should have been free to begin with.
I'm not saying DIY is bad but in this case it doesn't make sense.

to think in such a way is totally off the wall,, you are throwing under the bus every honest shops that is out there for the actions of a few bad ones,
And why would you want to do a job yourself when it is still totally under warranty ?? that is totally ridiculous
I think that if it ws your car and it was under warranty you would take it to dealer as well, save time to do the job and money,
Also you say you fix whatever you can,, what do you do when there is something that you cannot fix ?? take to a shop ? or do you buy a different car ?

My wife volunteered to go to the dealer Yesterday and tried to convince them to refund the money. As I predicted the dealer refused to do so. My wife then asked them for the documentation of Honda's policy guiding the diagnosis charge for something under warranty. Of course they weren't able to do that either. However, they agreed to call her back once they find the document.
Any further suggestions?

As my friend Accord-Pro will tell you I am the first one to recommend a good honda dealer.... In your case, you need to find another shop to do business with. This dealer is DISHONEST. The people at HOA are very reasonable and I can tell you from first hand experience, that they will help you out in some form or another....
Dealers like this dude give all hard working honest ones a bad rap.......
Also it might not be a bad idea to talk to the OWNER of this dealer and let them know exactly how you feel about being charged for warranty work after they told you N/C. The owner might just straighten this mess out for you as well as I am pretty sure he does not want a dissatisfied customer.....make sure you have all of the names of the people you talked to and what date and time...

when i first got my sol, neither seat belt would stay clicked. i went in and told them the problem, and they fixed it free of charge. i guess like everybody else was saying, since they had to diagnose the problem that's why you had to pay it, but if you went in saying what the exact problem was, you wouldn't have had to pay
dealers do not charge for warranty work. the diag fee along with the repair are always paid for by HONDA at a predetermined rate based upon the repair performed.
yea that does suck, i'll top that one
went there for blinking engine light, they said i shouldnt drive it if the light is blinking, it was a code though, i told it ran fine and they said it doesnt run good when the check eng light is on. So they call me five hours later to tell me the last guy to look at it (long story) left a test wire (paperclip sized), they pulled it and the light stopped, turns out my ignition timing was fine, which is what i thought was messed up via light, so they told me they had to charge me the 85 for the hour... of which prob a minute was spent taking the wire out, the guy was chuckling about it saying it was my fault.
also the kid in there was a maniac, i saw him take off in the pre drive before going into the garage... i didnt know my car was that fast
