Default Type S #1 in comparison

The new issu of Car and Driver has a comparison test of sport coupes under $25K and the Acura RSX Type S finished firts. Second was a tie between the Toyota Celica GT-S and Mitsubishi Eclipse. Fourth went to the new Hyundai Tiburon and the VW turbo Beetle S came in last place. Just thought I'd share.

Same w/ Sport Compact Car mag,..the TYPE-S came in first(basically) as well. They also got it to run a 15.0 @ 94mph.Motor trend got it to run a 14.8 @ 96 I believe.Thats awesome.I would be happy w/ 14.8-14.9 for it stock,..then,..on come the mods. And they say thats it A GSR replacement.Thats funny,.its kinda runnin "R" 1/4 times?I haven't seen a GSR run that and I owed one. But it is sad @ the Drivetain loss of the "S"! 200hp is really only like 168whp like the "R".SO,..if we loose a little weight,..it will be and R in its own way,..damn sure not in the looks department.DC2's are sweet and same w/ the DC5.STill got love for em' both

Too bad for the 02' Celica GTS,..it got Shafted on the premature Redline.but the 00's are stiil nice!

"R"-
"S"-

That is a serious shame. I came so close to buying one of those. They still look pretty sweet at least.

Yeah, it's a shame about the Celica's redline, but if you look at the design of Toyota's VVTLi system it is easily apparent that it would not be as stable at high RPM as VTEC is. Too bad, as a friend of mine had an '00 GTS and it was a very fun car to drive.

The rest of the cars in there really didn't impress me. The new Eclipse is a big thumbs down. I was surprised to see the Turbo S ranked last. I'd take it over that nasty-*** Tiburon any day. It was no shock to see the RSX come in first.

I still wish it had double wishbones though.

Interestingly, all five cars in the comparison have the same type of front suspensions, "ind. strut located by a control arm, coil springs, anti-roll bar".
