Totaled my EK hatch, need advice
Update: now they are telling me they aren't going to pay for ANYTHING extra? WTF? I thought they were obligated to since he is at fault?
They said I can take off anything I want off the car and replace it, think I can just bolt in something?
Ok so some ******* plowed into me today, I was at a dead stop. My hatch is totaled, but the engine+tranny seem ok...Got 18 stitches in my foot and a broken heart right now
My question is this: He was at fault, cited, and I filed a claim with his insurance (AllState). I bough the car swapped (Thanks Neal) but I had quite a bit into it $ wise also. What are my options here? I am thinking of towing it from the body shop home so the insurance cannot look at it until I am ready. Like I have the interior out of it because I just got it back from the body shop 2 weeks ago. I want to put the interior back in and clean it up as best as I can before they try and make a low *** estimate. Since my insurance does not cover aftermarket stuff, what can I do? I have receipts for everything except the swap.
Advice? Car has VIS hood, GSR leather, Thermal Exhaust, comptech header, brand new JDM thin side molding, etc.

Sit down on the curb with your hands on your head, and say to your self. "Why me"
Take pictures and take them to several body shops to get qoutes. Even honda's body shop would be costly, cause everything would be factory parts.

Wanna know something wierd, thats exactly how my old hatch a few years back looked after some bimbo crashed into the back of me. I don't CARE what anyone has TO SAY, woman can NOT drive, another one almost hit me again in my new hatch the other day, thats tellin you somethin huh?, PPPPPPPAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY
AAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNTTTTTTIIIIIIIOO OOOOOOOONNNNNNNN.
On a side note, they should pay for everything if you got the receipts like everyone is saying. They should also give you a decent-pretty good value out of you're hatch also to go lookin to buy another one, and on top of it take some of that value off and keep you're old one for parts and the swap and what not, do not question me, because I WOULD KNOW, period.

I will let you know once I try and part it out

Actually, from what I know, insurance companies will not pay for aftermarket parts/work unless you insure the modifications with your insurance company. It gets costly because they have to "appraise" the value of the car with the mods. It's weird, but that's how it works. This is just from my experience. Put the interior in it, and once they appraise, take out what you can. Put a stock D-series whatever in it and take off all of your mods. No sense in letting the insurance company get the mods you put on the car.
don't even call your insurance, unless youo have to. his insurance will make you an offer for the whole car, which should be the retail value. then ask them how much for you to keep the car, probbly about 400. Just make the inside look perferect. you could probably get 5-6k(guessing) don't know how much it would cost to buy one now and you car so you can pull all the parts. they should also pay for a rental and any days of missed work, just don't settle until you get what you want. IF you feel like you are getting screwed then call your ins co.
good luck
good luck
Consider yourself s.o.l. unless you had the car reappraised w/ everything done to it. Without the reappraisle you will only get bluebook value of the car. Best bet is to let them total it buy it back and part it out.
I would first take it to some body shops and see if it is repairable (looks like it maybe). The way they determine if it's totaled or not is if it will cost more then 3/4 of the value of the cars bluebook to repair it.
It might be in your best intrest to pick up the extra insurance for the aftermarket parts & get your car reapraised whenever you make any kind of significant changes (like a swap, paint, ex). So if something like this happens in the future you have all your bases covered. Sorry for your luck, but what better time to start a new project the now. You could always buy another one and swap everything over aswell. Good luck bro

Actually, when my car was stolen from me I had all the receipts from the aftermarket parts that were on the car. The insurance Co. covered ALL of the parts that I had receipts for, but it ended up being worth more that the "Market value" of the car, so it was totalled out and they payed the rest of the loan I had and gave me the leftovers.(2000+). So if ur car was already payed off, then they will most likely give you the market price value of the car.
KBB is almost exactly what I paid for the car WITH the swap anyway, so I would be out some $, but not all. I am gonna put the interior back in, then try to buy the entire thing back
Yes, I bought my 92 si back from state farm for $500, collected the check for the remaining value of the car and turned around and sold it for $1300.
My brother didn't have as great experience though. When he totalled his 318ti they wanted a LOT more money for his car for him to keep it.

bought back my 89 supra turbo when it was totalled, cost me 300 i think, but my dad went out and bought himself a supra turbo, now he's got a whole new AC system (1000$ish), a spare engine, and anything else he needs off of it. if you've got room, it's nice having a parts car.

hmm I am hoping that since the car is damn near destroyed (only 2 good doors, 1 quarter) that they won't want that much.
However, 99 hatches are rare around here, so who knows
