B16 Bogs At Low RPMs then shuts off.
I have a B16a2 with minor mods on a 96 civic coupe, the car was working fine until about a month or two ago my distibutor gave out, a friend let me borrow his from his b18 while he worked on the motor... car ran fine, I had the cap and rotor replaced on my distributor... when we put my distributor back on, the timing jumped and the car wouldn't start with either distributor.
Now, I already bought a brand new distributor, new cap and rotor from avanced auto parts. Timing belt (oem honda) was changed and timing was set (done at a local shop) according to Haynes repair manual. Car starts but Idle is rough and it eventually turns off. The shop took it to an electrician who checked the car and said I needed a new map sensor. I took the map sensor and the intake air temperature sensor from a friends ls which was recently swapped out. Put those on and the car still does the same thing. The check engine light is not on while I have the map sensor on, I know it works though, because it turns on when I take off the map sensor. I can move the car and I can floor it and it works fine, but every time I let off the gas it starts to bog and shuts off. No codes are being thrown, wires are good, and spark plugs are new. I took off the map sensor and it idles a little better without it and it doesn't shut off, but I'm driving my car with a rough idle, and it doesn't respond the same, throws out a backfire here and there, AND I need to turn on my car while giving it gas (i have to do this with or without the map sensor on)......
Sorry for the long post but I have run out of ideas and I didn't want to leave anything out. Any help will be greatly appreciated, and btw congratulations to this site for hitting 2 million posts.
