i think i got screwed.. ehh i hate trannys
well i bought a transmission off ebay "post" to have only 60k miles on it ... lets fast forward to after install (A2M) ..
-when the cars off i can get it, into every gear except 3rd
-when the car is running every gear except 3rd, and 4th grinds so bad i didnt wanna force it in
-i checked the tranny fluid from the fill hole its dripping out so thats good ..
-i bled the lines pretty good but the pedal isnt very stiff(act hdss) like i thought it would be
- during start up theres a grinding noise ...
.. so im leaning more towards 3rd and 4th gear are gone ..
slight possiblity the clutch is in backwards?
what do you guys think?

Sounds like some sort of installation error. When you start the car, the clutch is depressed, so therefore nothing inside the transmission is moving. If there is grinding during startup, it sounds like the starter isn't properly aligned with the flywheel. That could be due to improper fitment of the input shaft into the clutch disk.

As far as I know, that's not possible.

as i searched i found one guy put the clutch on backwards.. and he said his clutch pedal still stayed soft after he bled and bled it .. thats kinda my situation .. only one thing to do take the tranny off and see if did anything wrong ..
i don't think its possible to put the clutch disc on backwards since you will pretty much distroy it trying to. and it would be pretty hard to bolt the pressure plate down if it was on backwards....
sounds like you got a bad tranny...........take it apart or send it back to the *** you bought it from.

I used to make a living buying/selling car parts on ebay. 99% of the parts that are currently on my car came off of ebay.

i know you take a chance buying anything used .. but you know the fucked up part .. after i bought the tranny i even emailed the seller and asked if anything was wrong with the tranny .. any grinds, leaks.. anything .. he said just fill it up with fluid.. it was post to be from a 99 and as i was installing it i saw a 97 stamped on the housing and thought did i get screwed? and i just continued anyway .. and well now im pulling it out and its getting sent to gear speed .. i just dont wanna take a chance on anything used .. getting it rebuilt seems smarter, its more money but i know gear speed will do it right, so im not worried
i havent talked to gear speed personally but i think anywhere from $1000 - 1500 .. unless someone presents me with a Y8 tranny in mint condition and i can believe them i will get a used one .. ive possibly thought about buying a d15b lsd tranny from HMO .. *shrugs shoulders*
Grinding could be the starter. But your transmission is bad. Definately need another. I personally wouldn't even look at that one except for possible spare parts if you happen to blow another tranny. Even then, using parts that have been exposed to all that is probably going on inside that tranny wouldn't be the best idea.
Good luck, man.
