Default Dyno of my stock LS at 12psi...very disappointing....

my setup consists of:

- 96' completely stock LS motor w/b16 tranny
- T3/T4 garret 57trim/.63ar turbo
- LSD Motorsports Short Tubular Manifold
- LSD Motorsports 2.5" downpipe (open)
- LSD motorsports dumptube
- walbro 255lph-HP fuel pump
- Tial 38mm wastegate
- HKS SSQV bov (knock-off)
- Stealthmode oil line kit
- CCA 6" intercooler
- 2.5" I/C piping all around
- Megan Racing boost & oil pressure gauges
- Turbo XS HP manual boost controller
- Dsm 450cc black top injectors
- Tuned (wideband) using Crome-Pro
- Running at 12psi

Anybody have any opinions??? we couldn't get an air/fuel ratio in because i couldn't get my o2 plug off the downpipe. anybody know why the line is all rigidy after 5.5k??? i was hoping for atleast 270whp/250tq...but i guess not...any inputs will be very appreciated...

my friend previously made 220whp/210tq at 9 psi...with a 57trim turbo, log manifold ...with the exception of 3" exhaust piping all the way back...only thing would tuning...so there was a/f reading of any sort...

your tune sucks......look at how "spikey" the top end of the graph is on all the runs.........something is not right..........check everything over and try again.

you NEED to have a air/fuel ratio checked........you could be dangerously rich........or dangerously lean up top!

run file1 looks the best, but it looks really weird. that choppyness reminds me of a corrupt chip, possible bad burn?

the car has been wideband tuned, there was just no sniffer when he took it to the dyno.

car was tuned on Crome Pro on the street before the dyno, AFR's were a dead on 11.9:1 with around 22 degrees of timing at 12psi, which isn't terribly agressive. Xenocron ran his with a slightly larger t3/t4 to 22 degrees at 15psi on pump fuel, but without a way to log knock, I wasn't about to push it much more.

The difference in pulls is 3rd gear (240hp) vs 4th gear (227hp). I suspect that the large drop is a spoolup spike, then its sliding back down to the normal 12psi. I think this is probably true even more seeing as the drop is more drastic in a lower loading gear. Could be we need to step up to a stiffer wg spring, its only an 7-8psi spring.

The bouncy torque curve after the turbo spools makes me suspect something ignition related, but perhaps with some more tinkering with boost levels and such we'll sort that out as well.

I think the dyno time was a bit premature. We definitely should have spent more time with the car getting the little things worked out, and getting a 3bar map installed.

Don't worry Nguyen, we'll get it sorted.

Powerwise I am not terribly surprised at 240, that much boost isn't into the efficiency range of that turbo quite enough, I think a couple more pounds would really open it up, provided we get hold of a

Definitely need a 2.5 or 3 bar sensor, the stock sensor dont see past 10.7 psi and 11-12 psi is just the tuner guessing the tune. Personally i dont think the number is that bad

Your set up should make peak power at or near red line. It looks like it makes good power then something goes wrong. Maybe your way to rich or you have to much gap for the plugs. I dynoed a few stock LS set ups and they always pull to redline.

Stock LS engine will always drop off before redline because of the head

My own car made power to 7500 with a BONE STOCK LS AND BONE STOCK HEAD. I made 307whp on 16psi BONE stock from valve cover to oil pan.

does the car misfire at all, feel flat, anything weird or strange?

spark plugs are gapped at .030. the car drives great. just needs to be fine tuned a lil bit more around certain rpms, but once it hits boost, it's smooth sailing from there...car doesn't misfire at all either. i was hoping around 270whp...i've seen people hit 250whp just with 10psi...

if you are happy with the power and the car is tuned the way you want and it drives the way you want, dont sweat the numbers bro........dynos vary from place to place, and type to type. i know there are people on here who swear they make 400hp at like 2psi but i am just not falling for it, i think some of it is crap

BIG QUESTION

do you have a dump tube?

I bet you $100 strait up. You put a dump tube routed under your oil pan... You'll gain 30-40whp. Seriously. Ive seen it a million times.

Thats more then likely your problem....

BTW, i made 244whp @ 8.5psi on a FMU setup ... WITH dump tube.

bone stock 98 LS

I advocate this all the time, if the car drives good, and feels good, you should be happy. TOo many people here on honda-tech get caught up in the dyno #'s game and get disappointed if they don't hit #'s that other people on honda-tech are getting. Every setup varies, and i think 240whp for 12psi is not too shabby at all. Paul

cool do that.

ALso.. Do a pull and have some1 hold their hand infront of your BOV. Sometimes they can leak and you'll loose a nice chunk of power.
