Default Is the K24A4 worth working on?

I'm starting to do some engine work on my accord (just bolt ons atm), and I'm wondering if it's even worth it. Can this engine be made to go significantly fast, or should I look into getting a swap?

why would you do a swap? do a google search ok K series engine websites

if you wanted a fast accord, you should have gotten the V6 one becuase it would have been cheaper than trying to mod this one..........

There is a lot you can do with a K24. A computer works wonders, as does header and exhaust. Putting a red head on it will help it breathe, but you are going to have to research whether or not the intake manifold fits correctly in your engine bay, and you're going to have to research what changes to the harness would have to be made.

So yes, there's a hell of a lot you can do.

With careful tuning, you won't be sacrificing much on the bottom end.

Considering how much work it will be to switch the head to the K20(*) head and all the other changes involved, you might decide that this particular project is too much for you.

Tell us what exact Accord you have.

There are plenty of things you can do with your/our engine. Skunk2 is in the process of releasing cams, AEM already has camgears out, and UR just releseased a pulley kit, along with the standard I/H/E. Plus, just about everything with the TSX and RSX-S are interchangeable into our accord.

Some peeps have put the K20A cams in the EPSi motor (the 2.0L version of the 2.4) and made significant power without losing low end...there's mad potential.

I'm assuming you mean they changed out the entire head, since the K20A3 in the EP3 is not equipped to handle VTEC on the exhaust side. Is that right?

What computer are they using?

Our friend w/the K24 would have to do the same things: replace head and find computer, worry about harness.

The best combo for k20a2head/k24a4bottom is to run kpro and accord ECU, otherwise it'll run like a sack of crap.

There was a thread on k20a.org about this, someone found a way to adapt A2 cams into a base head, along with the rockers, pins, rollers, etc.

No they changed the cams...one valve was running the regular lobe, the other valve ran VTEC. I forget how they did it but they did...200whp from an A3
