Need help with 99 Accord Clickin'
Hey Guys,
New to the site, I came here cause I need help with my wife's Accord. She has got a 99 4cyl EX. When she backsup or stops to go forward, there is a click from the front. I am not to good with FWD cars and CV joints. Had the car up on stands to change the oil and took the passenger front tire off to see if there were any loose brake components. There was not, however front rotor can turn approximately 1/2-1"? Is this CV joint or play in tranny.
Thanks for the help, just don't want to break nothin' in there!!

that's normal for the wheel to turn slightly when the car is in park...
The click might be busted front and rear mounts. when you had the car up did you check the CV boots? If your CV joints are bad, they will usually make a clicking noise when turning right or left. Could be something inside the trans?

No clickin with L/R turns only when Forward/Reverse. CV boots looked ok (just old), I heard that if inner CV joint is goin bad, clicks Forward/Reverse?
the joints usually don't go bad unless it is contaminated/broken. If the CV boots are still intact and no grease, then those are fine. I have the same clicking sound, but when I was at honda checking something out, I read their flyer saying that clicking sound is normal.
If you hear the clicking sound only when you first hit the brakes in reverse, or when you first hit the brakes going forward (after going in reverse), this is normal. It's just the brake pads shifting slightly.
In my car ('99), the sound is more pronounced when I first hit the brakes while moving in reverse. But like I said, if this is the case for you, it's normal.
