Opinions on Manual Boost Controller- Turbo XS? Hallman Pro Rx? Turbosmart?
Been shopping for a MBC. I can't really afford an EBC right now. At the same time, i'm not looking to totally cheap out on this either.
A lot of people around here seem to use the Turbo XS boost controllers. Do they hold boost well?
I've seen the Hallman Pro Rx MBC also. Seems to be a good piece but I wanted to know if anyone else used this
Hallman
Theres also the turbsmart MBC
Turbosmart
Thoughts? Opinions? What should i get? thanks...

Sorry, never used it, but I’ve heard allot of good things about the Hallman Pro. I do plan on buying this when I’m ready to up the boost.
I have used the Turbo smart and TurboXS prior to ugrading to an EBC (just for the ease of switching levels mainly).
I didn't like the XS because although it held my max boost where I wanted it, I always had a spike when coming onto boost that I couldn't get out.
The TurboSmart was an AWESOME MBC, it went exactly where I wanted it to and stayed there, no spiking whatsoever.
I have heard great things about the Hallman but never used one myself so I don't know for sure.

i have a turbosmart dual stage......it works OK.......it spikes a little in the midrange but holds pretty good until redline after that.....
lookin more and more like the hallman is the way to go.
anyone else care to chime in?

TXS hpmbc works really well. I install one about once a week. Any boost spiking problems people have are from improper install or bad wastegate design. 30+ psi is no problem to get ruler flat boost. The hallman is good too but i think thats already been covered
Never used a turbo smart BC

i have a turbosmart and i love it. compared to the turbo xs where you must use an allen key to adjust boost, the turbosmart uses a nice size **** and there is also detents so it clicks as you adjust boost so it doesnt back out.
I used the the old school TXS single stage and dual stage mbc. single stage never had a problem. dual stage great! high boost kicks in as soon as the switch is flipped, no delay.
anyone run a dawesdevices mbc? i'm running one. it doesnt spike. but maybe thats because i'm only boosting a couple pounds more than the wastegate can handle on its own (stock wg 5.5psi, i'm running 8psi or so right now)
good stuff
i'm leaning towards the hallman i think
i don't feel like spending the extra money for the HP turbo xs model
and someone up there who does installs regularly gave a big
for the turbosmart
open to some more opinions if anyone else wants to comment

it is HKS and they dont work well unless you create an appropriately sized bleeder orifice...which is a waste of time
