hey guys i gotta carbon fiber hood on my EK and scared it might pop open. theres alot of play when im drivin. shudd i get hood locks or is there another way to work around it? im lookin for a clean look. thanx alot.

 

I wouldn't worry too much about it I live in windy wyoming and has a VIS hood and I have been to denver in back doing 90 in 80 mph winds on the highway and no problem at all!

 

As long as its a good quality hood, with a metal latch, you should be fine. You can get hood pins or hood locks of you are worried.

^ yeah, hoodlocks utilize a key to unlock the hood. IMO it doesnt look that nice, i would rather use hood pins instead.. but thats just me.

Its all in the original latch. High quality hoods (VIS, Seibon) have very good latches. I've got a VIS hood and have had it at over 100mph on the highway w/ no problems. It does shake a bit, but I've seen OEM hoods that shake just as much. IMO hood locks look good when they're done right!

 

Yea from what I've seen that latch popping at highway speeds only happens with cheap *** CF hoods, if you have a VIS or a Seibon, you're good money IMO and in all experiences I've heard from my friends.

 

I had a VIS hood. Just make sure the hood pins are latched as well as the stock hood latch.

to make a long story short, the hood lasted 3 days.

 

I've had 5 carbon fiber hoods on numerous cars i've had and never has one came up on me. I had my Talon up to 140 mph on the highway and it never flew up. All the hoods were VIS though.
