Hey I have these valve keepers from my trashed head. I thought they were stock until i took apart my new stock head and noticed a clear difference between the two.
Do these look aftermarket or just newer stock?
Old Stock Keeper Installed:

New Stock Keeper/Aftermarket? Installed:

Side by Side [old on left new on right]:

Thoughts? Just wondering cause i already assembled my head with the stock keepers but now im going thru and redoing it with these other ones and im wondering if my efforts are justified... i already did the intake side with the new ones and then i noticed the difference in how they seat...

i just did the keepers in my head, i used ferrera. to me the keepers on the left of the bottom pic look like the ferrea's i just installed.
edit: the aftermarket ones are bigger than the stock

ah the pick doesnt show well but the left one is more brown/oil colored and the one on the right looks more like fresh metal

edit: is the retaining edge on the inside of the keeper in the same place on both sets of keepers?

best detail i could get:
#1 Mystery Left | Stock Right

#2 Stock Left | Mystery Right

#3 Stock Left | Mystery Right

They seem thinner by stronger? idk
need input!
*edit : the *mystery keeper* has survived dropping a valve (idk if stock do as well)

i have no idea, the valve face blew off but the retainer/keeper stayed! ti retainers + mystery keeper... very strange. Valves were aftermarket- now they are trash

was the valve the same manufacturer as those retainers? Valvetrain **** is risky man, it can trash your whole motor and turbo if something fails, i only use high quality proven stuff. It's not worth the chance with cheap ****.

I agree, and i know ALLLLLL too well.
Say hello to the valves from cylinder #1 of my last build *aftermarket valves:

If the old keepers survived THIS then that leads me to believe they are of superior strength and i would want to use them in my next build. But then again they seat kind low on the omnipower retainers so idk...
i need some input

Well, the retainers and keepers "surviving" that doesn't really say too much. They don't see much load from something like that. I'd get some ferrea valvetrain and be done with it... So my vote..

Why do you say it can't be any worse than stock? Either it's right or it's not, one of those isn't right. Generally good retainers come with their own keepers.
