2.0 liter guys and/or Cam freaks...
I just searched for five minutes and came up blank, tons of old posts on BC3's. Is anyone running BC4 or 5's?
My dilemma: I'm going 2 liter and got Skunk2 pro2+ cams. Those bastards are not going to work, too big, rough idle, and I'm still trying to tune them to run smooth all through the powerband, I am thinking these are more race cams than street cams for NA. I have a buyer for the Skunks and need the right cams this time. I do and plan on continuing to daily drive my R so I need a solution. The plan is 2 liter 85mm, 12.5:1, reliable DD around 220hp. I want power but will sacrifice some for driveability/reliability, that is important to me.
I know a lot of people and am getting so many different opinions but I want to ask fellow R owners cause I think we care more about our caRs than just going fast. Any advice and/or experiences from 2 liter guys or tuners who play with big cams is very much appreciated...
Before someone asks, this is the full layout:
85mm Golden Eagle sleeved block
Weisco pistons 12.5:1
Eagle Rods
the usuals (h gasket, stud kit, machine work, v stem seals.... etc.)
ported head with supertech valve springs and retainers
omni power valves
....insert cams here....
BDL 70mm throttle body
CNC ported Intake manifold
550 injectors
DTR header
T1R exhaust
the headwork is done and have been tuning with crome. may go Apex powerFC later... thanks in advance, lets hear it

92TypeR has a similar setup (there are several threads on his buildup in this and the allmotor forum)
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1523438
also check out itrspec.com
I will be running the same setup as you for my Type R
I'm going to keep my existing cams ---> Toda Spec Bs
You should also look at BLOX and Rocket M24X cams

that's too funny yeah, I've been talking to him... he's the one buying my Skunks!
plus the all motor forum aren't type R guys... most all motor guys I talk to just want to go fast. that's why I want advice from R owners, we're different (i hope)

I have a 2.0 liter. My 2.0 liter was a mild budget build that made 204whp. My comp. is around 11.8. My motor builder and tunner did me tell that my jdm itr header and intake manifold is too small for my motor. With a bigger header SMSP,HYTEC,PROSPEED etc etc and an Edelbrock intake mani and a bigger TB I should see 220 to 225 whp. Now let me tell you with this motor I have torque in any gear and at almost any rpm level. I attached my dyno sheet so that you can see the power under the curve. I hit peak HP at around 7300 rpm and holds there until 8300 rpm. That is due to lack of breathing due to the manifold and header. My cams are not crazy and my idle is smooth. B20 block with stock sleeves, stock rods, with RS ITR syle cast pistons. No need for expensive forged pistons and aftermarket rods. I ask myself why go K20 if it costs so much

well, my experience with the Pro 2s and even 3s is that they just need to be adjusted at idel. We've got both sets to idle with no problems after fuel and idle adjusting. I think the 2s are a very streetable set of cams.

Thanks for the input guys, anymore is just appreciated more

Im running 84mm bore & Darton sleeved on 11.5:1 compression Arias pistons w/ Eagle rods. 3angle valve job w/ port and polish head. I have a stock intake manifold that was port-matched to the head. Stock valves with Crower springs and retainers and stock injectors.
I have a B&M FPR bumped to 50psi at idle. BC 3 cams and Power FC for management.
JDM header, cat, and stock exhaust. Pop the hood and everything still looks stock besides the shining FPR.
Church tuned it to 218 whp @ 151 ft/lbs tq. And this is my daily driver and I'm loving it.

Just wondering, but how well do stock ITR cams work with increased displacement? I know they won't make as much power as aftermarket cams, but do they become a bit of a bottleneck or are they still viable?

They aren't a "restriction" per se, but they hold back the potential of the motor.
I made decent power with ITR cams with my 2.0L
Red line - ITR cams
Blue line - BC5 cams

i will try to find my dyno sheet, i am running jun 3 cams on my 2.0l motor, and i love them.
u could even try the jun 4 cams but i dont know how well those are for d/d like u want them.

I have a 1998 ITR built for road course use. The 2.0L B18C5 is near completion. Here is some information about the build: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1596128
After doing some research, I felt the JUN 3 cams were the best choice. There are cams made by Skunk2 that are very similar to the JUN 3's, but I believe the metallurgy of the JUN cams to be of a better grade.
This motor is being built to provide strong performance over a fairly wide RPM range, and still have excellent reliability. Only the best components and a highly skilled engine builder can provide this combination.

I have a 2L with the pro2+ and it seems to idle just fine. The only thing is that is has a hard time starting cold but it idles just fine. Also, we didn't do any cam timing we left them at our measured zero point, which was +2 on the intake and +7 on the exhaust. She made 227.9 whp and 153 lb-ft at 8300rpm. I would insert a pic but I can 't figure out how to.
Here's my 2.0 liter setup...

i'm running Blox B cams btw on 91 octane...Portflow head work, valvetrain, retainers...etc., 11.3-11.6 compression on a 4 layer head gasket
running 12's on the 1/4 mile...daily driven on an EG hatch. i've been happy with the motor
it's a 'budget' build and makes exceptional power throughout the mid-range for a 2.0L NA motor...and it's still making some power beyond 8500 rpms

Those are literally amazing numbers for such a mild build.
