04 Check Engine Light/tranny slipping
I have a 04 Accord LX 4cyl sedan auto
On my drive home from school (17 miles, 13 of which are highway) my check engine light came on. I didn't notice anything major until I got off the highway and had to bring the engine to higher RPMs. That is when I noticed that in 2nd when I brought the car to above 4k RPMs that the engine would hesitate in the gear change. I did it a few times on a strip of road outside my neighborhood and found the problem to be consistent. I know this is not based upon any of my mods because they are all bolt-on, no internal work yet. Possible causes I thought were yesterday I was driving home on the highway in stop and go traffic and I dropped the car (manually) into 2nd because of the stop and go conditions and kept it there for 10-15 minutes. I also thought of revving in neutral and dropping into drive (of which I have done a few times, but not within the last month). Besides that, I keep my car in drive except in traffic conditions which are few and far between.
Any thoughts on the problem? Will I need to see a honda tech in regards to this?
Thanks in advance

You do not deserve any warranty work. 2nd is for slippery conditions start.......neutral dropping a trans = you are a dumbass

I hope your father kicks your stupid little ***. You are destroying an otherwise good car. After he's finished kicking your stupid little ***, I hope he makes you pay for the repairs. I guess you think doing this to the car will get you the manual swap you want so badly. If your father pays for that, he's as stupid as you are.
thanks for all the help
Yes, I am aware that dropping it into drive from neutral is stupid, hence is why I don't do it anymore. I am only bringing it up as a possible attribute to the problem. AND after driving my car out to the grocery store and back, I didn't encounter that problem leading me to believe its something different.
If I wanted a manual tranny that bad, I'd jack up my car, and take a sledgehammer too it, so stop getting on my case consistently about it. I come to H-T for help on my car, not looking for a bunch of 40 year old hypocritcal ******** consistently telling me I'm retarded.(even though you'll probably retort that comment with "well you're basically doing that by dropping it from neutral into drive")
And I put it in 2nd, because I was at stop and go traffic topping out at 20 and braking back down. It's easier to keep it in 2nd during those conditions IMHO.
Seeing as no one around here can help me, I'll take it to Honda and they can look at it. I personally think now that it is the cat/header hookup.

second is meant for slippery condiontions, not to be used all the time. why not leave it in d4 since it is an automatic, and let it do the work? btw you waste alot more gas doing that too.
take care of your car and you won't have these problems.. starting off in second gear puts excessive wear on that clutch pack if you are constantly trying to start from a stop......

There was a long topic about that, where I learned how stupid it was, which is why I stopped.
It is weird now, the light and tranny slip is only in the morning. For the last 3 days, in the morning the light has came on and the "hesistation" has been the largest, and after driving it around for awhile, and getting to high RPMs (ie between 4-5k), the light goes off and the tranny returns to normal?

Where could I locate that? Under the passenger dash?

if it's like the 6th gen cars, drivers side...not sure if the procedure is the same as it is for the 6th gen so you might want to wait while I see what I can find
