brake light switch????
i have a simple question,if somebody could help.I have a 2000 accord (2dr-4cyl.)and when i press the brake pedal my brake lights dont light up except for the 3rd light on my spoiler, but all my bulbs are good and work they just dont brighten up when i hit my brakes and im wondering if its something electrical in the trunk or if it might be the brake light switch.
Can't be the brake pedal switch, because that triggers the center light too.
Check to make sure your bulbs are OK. When they 'brighten up', it's a separate filament that's lighting up. The 2nd filament can be burned out while the dimmer (parking light) filament is OK.

it actually my wifes car and her friend noticed so when i checked the bulbs, 2 of them were burned out and i replaced them and im still getting nothing and i even replaced all the bulbs just to do it and i checked fuses and those are ok.
Check in the trunk where the brake lights are actually wired. There might be a loose plug back there. You will have to pull back the carpeting from the sides of the trunk to follow the wire(s) and you will most likely have to open some wire wrap whether it be heatshrink or half cut plastic sleeving. Just follow the wires and be sure there is no pinching or fraying of the wire. More commonly it's a plug though. In any case, GL.
thanks for the info, i'll check the plugs and wiring this wknd and if doesnt work i guess i'll take it to have a cicuit test done unless anybody has any more ideas.
