How do you bypass a clutch for 01 gsr for remote start system?
i just bought a 2001 acura gsr and installed a viper auto remote start and security system model 771XV and had it installed at best buy and they did everything but the remote start which is understandable because its illegal for them to do it on a manuel transmission. so the installer told me it was easy to do besides bypassing the clutch and i have no clue how to do that.....can anyone help me?????
If you do some searching you will find countless examples of why this is such a bad idea.
If you want remote start on a MT there are only a few alarms that will do this properly. One is called Compustar (or something like that), Clifford used to make one too.

stop bashing people theres no point....remote starts are fine as long as you take the necessary precautions to prevent accidents....yes there not safe but he probably already knows that.
Bypassing the clutch is the biggest pita on a remote start install. If you cram your body under your dash you will see that there are two "push" sensors that are activated and deactivated when you depress the clutch pedal. The upper sensor is the clutch safety switch. You have to remove the clip from the sensor and crimp the two wires together.
Btw on my alarm I have the option of flipping a switch under my dash that deactivates my remote start....therefore if some one borrows my car and tries to remote start it (which they probably wouldnt know how to anyways) it wont.
The biggest deal is just to get used to leaving your car in neutral when u leave it parked.

What the hell is your problem? And who's bashing? All I said is it is a bad idea. Not to mention, it is ILLEGAL for a reason no matter how careful you think you are.

with all due respect i dont have a problem.....yes you did say it is a bad idea (and i agree with you even though I have one) but the original poster didnt ask the question if it was or not. He is already knows the risk he is taking in acknowledging that the legality of the install is questionable.
In all reality he asked a simple question regarding the bypass of the clutch sensor, I happened to have a difficult time finding information pertaining to this topic at the time when i was executing my install; so I figured why not actually help out a fellow member.
Yes it is illegal get over it

if you are going to use a remote start on alarm like viper that does not support manual transmission you should get a turbo timer.
When you take your keys out of the ignition the turbo timer will kick on for a set amount of time. So that prevents you from leaving your car in gear since the car is still running.
But it will not prevent somebody playing in the car after the engine is off to put the car in gear.

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
check out any import shop around they most likely will have it i bought an alarm that has a built in turbo timer and all that good stuff also come with a window module for 120bucks on http://www.asianwolf.com only thing that isnt great about it is if u get it installed anywhere u wont get a warranty because its not (wichever shop u get it installed at) there product
