k-series is the motor of the future. if you can afford one, i say go with it.

they respond amazingly to bolt ons, and can see 230+whp NA very easily.
they have tremendous potential, you cant go wrong with it

to me it all comes down to how much you can afford to spend. If you have the money hands down I say go with the k series like ramsrod said it's the engine of the future however you can spend a lot less to get a h22 and get very good results as well so it all depends on what your willing to spend.

just as any other motor would respond to it.

K. Well i've heard H series dont do well on boost due to a high c/r. So i was wondering hoe the K's did as far as, how much they can take on stock internals.

take a look in the forced induction forum, there is a highest HP on stock block thread. K series motors look like they are responding quite well to boost, even in stock form.

Money: Cheap or expensive?

Track times: 13's or 12's?

There's a couple factors in deciding this. K-series motors are the way of the future.

first off to answer your question ... yes h22 has more torque but gets beat bad by the k20 because of gearing and the k20 revs as high as b series, h22 in stock form should only be reved to about 7500... i have a h22 currently in my dc2 .. it is quick but im pullin it out to go k20 ... the weakest part of the h22 is the tranny .... it has very long gears similar to an ls tranny... but has power to move throught the gears .... what you can do to fix this is the H2B kit where you bolt on a b series tranny to a h22 longblock ... mad power ... skunked in a gutted dc2 2200lbs (whick is still 100lbs heavier than a eg hatch) runs low 12's with H2B .. all he has is a good header and some cams ... he makes 215whp i think .... BTW i have a full h22 changeover swap for a eg/dc http://hondamarketplace.com/zerothread?id=1645514
and what it looks like

Haha I remember that. It was on hondata's site. They said traction was non-existant unless in 6th gear. He could go from 60-140 or somethng like that in like 6 seconds in 6th gear.

I really like the K series (if you can afford it ) The H22 is such a heavy motor, especially for a hatch not to mention the size! The other thing is the h22 has to use special pistons for the stock sleeves and has to be bored/honed with special equipment (unlike B,D, and Kseries). The good thing is wiring it is not to bad, parts are everywhere, it's way cheaper than the K, and you can still make a lot of power with it. The K series is almost as light as a b series, tourqe and HP are AWESOME, and so is it's bore to storke ratio. Also the ports on the K series heads are far better by design. The K is IMO a tough motor to beat as far as performance, weight, and potential, but it's only downfall is the cost to put it in. Your gonna need custom axles, mounts, modded X member, swap harness, and header. Oh and also you can forget about ever smoging you car (if that is even an issue where you live). As far as reliablity, it all depends on how you build it or drive it and tune it. I will say this though, I definately like the idea of having a timing chain instead of a belt. So I guess what I am trying to say is that the K is awesome if you can afford it, but the H22 is not bad if thats what you want or can afford to do. Anywho just my .02 and some change.

You sure it's impossible to pass emissions? Even if they just use the wand?
