Default Removable rollbar for ITR?

OK, I know someone posted on this last year, but can't find it under search:

Is there a rollbar out there for the ITR that is (partially) removable, so that the back seat is still usable and safe?

R.

Autopower makes a rollbar with an optional removable center section so access to the rear seats is easier.

And I'm not sure how "safe" it is either. Lots of metal back there close to your passengers' heads.

I think the pic was of a PY ITR with a Autopower Cage fully padded with Yellow Pads.

Here is the tutorial from http://www.itrca.com

Actually...they used to offer the removable center section, but not anymore. At least that's what they told me when I placed my order a few weeks ago.

I'm glad to see that tutorial is still getting around

To answer the question, there is NO ROLLBAR that I know of that would be safe with people in the back seat. I don't care how much you pad it...roll bar padding is there to keep your helmet from splitting open, and MAYBE keep your bones from snaping around the bar. Pading does not make the metal bars safe. Look at how little room there is for people in the back, even with the cross braces removed (you'll have to picture them removed, I don't have a pic):

Sadly no. There isn't a way to get a rollbar in there and remove enough to be safe for passengers. You can get the removable cross section to use the back seat for storage, but that's about it.

Don't get a harness bar. They might as well be called poseur bars, or decrapitation bars.

Harness bars, when used with harnesses on the track, can lead to severe injury in the event of a rollover.

If you want to use harnesses on the track, get a rollbar or a rollcage. We don't ever need to see a thread where someone was killed as a result of using harnesses without proper rollover protection.

If the search function worked I could probably find the answer to this, but ... how much does the Autopower setup weigh?

I think I heard the mild steel version is about 60 lbs all said and done.

Easily worth the weight.
