Default d15 exhaust / d15 to d16 vtec head swap

I've got a friend that just bought a 93 eg hatch and a bunch of friends and i have made it our new project car. its too bad he doesn't have or make enough money for a nice swap but anyways... he would like to install full exhaust on it. I've researched and found that a header can be installed on his d15b7.. but i haven't found any cat-back systems... would he have to convert his exhaust over to a d16 exhaust system? also, how hard is it to perform a d16 vtec conversion on the d15, and is there much difference?

thx

i wouldnt spend money on a minime swap or headers for that matter on that car.. just wait and save up for a swap for the future. slapping a d16 head on the d15 has a noticeable difference but not worth it imo. but w/e u guys decide to do, good luck!

Not everyone is FUNDimentally able enough to do a B series swap, so in regards of stickin SOHC than yes put a Z6 head on ur D15 an you will notice a significant difference.. Need a new ECU, Vtec Solenoid, and many other small things "EX harness or wire VTEC from head to ecu blabla ectttt.." BauleyCivic did an AWESOME mini me swap write up which deserves MUCHOOO credential from everyone.. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=554053

That's it right there.... Theres also other things you may want to take into consideration while doing the swap.. Maybe like once you get a Z6 head "or Y8 which is 96-00 EX OBD2 head" you could look at getting things done to it while its off like Port n Polished, Valve Job, any internals that you could afford, ect... Keep in mind though using a D16Y8 head would require using obd1 injectors an few other things that I believe are in Bauley's writeup...

Case in point, i've seen PLENTYYYYY of people do mini me swaps an worked with what they've had, an put up nice numbers an overall had nice little swaps with only very minor issues if any at all, after all the works done...

Check around cuz theres tons of places that do machine work in your area im sure, if not check around here for people who list there business in there SIG an are credited for what they do, an im sure you'll be fine.. And hey look at it this way, after all the works done and if you arent satisfied yet, just BOOOOOOST and you'll be straight.. And still spend less money than swappin a GSR..

Good luck dude... Hope I helped...

thread jack! haha start your own thread.... to the op the mini me swap is pretty nice but you should definately consider picking up a z6 or y8 trans. the 3rd gear in the dx is forever. i used to race ppl and not have to shift lol. also while you got the head of clean up the ports and port match it. maybe even get it shaved a little at a machine shop. good luck
