What do you think of your Si?
I had a 2000 milano red Si up until I paid it off last year. I then sold it to take care of some bills and start saving for a new ride. I loved my Si and it was very dependable with mild n/a mods, but in the end I had to make some decisions. Now I am trying to decide what car to get-a new Si or a used (under 15k miles) Evo. I know that these are at two totally different ends of the spectrum of affordable performance cars. I have a 2 yr old son so I would love to have a 4 door Evo aside from the obvious performance. However, I did really love my Si and wouldn't mind going back to one if it really is that much better than before. I can't seem to find a new one nearby let alone drive one to see for myself! What are your opinions? Would you just upgrade to an Evo? The Evo's do seem to be maintenance ****** though...and that can REALLY add up pricewise.
I really do think that I would be leaning more towards an Si if I could find one more easily. It's hard to decide on a car you can't even see in person. I have driven some Evo's and they were simply amazing! I'm so confused...
I would love to have boost for once since all of my previous cars have been n/a. I have also heard a lot about how expensive an Evo can be to maintain aside from the payment. I have been sold on honda for so long I though that I might try something different with the Evo. After reading about how sweet the new Si is, I am on the fence about whether to stay with a brand I am familiar with such a honda. They have been such good cars to me in the past. I just can't ignore that fact. Besides, a 6 speed 197 hp LSD equipped coupe sounds very tempting.
I love my Si, i'm not going to sit here and brag about it, but i've been obsessed since day one and i bought it back in december....
the Evolution.....very tempting 286hp turbo 4 cylinder, bremo brakes, front mounted intercooler and all of that STOCK. But, it's Mitsubishit, and i just don't buy cars that make televisions....

Why not wait for the Civic Si 4 Door to come out later this year? I'd take the Si 4 door over the coupe anyday (or an Evo for that matter, unless i was wealthy). It would help with getting your child's car seat in and out, getting friends/family in and out, and you still get that 197 na hp along with Lsd

I really like the look of the 4-door Si but I am waiting to see how it makes it to production. I thought honda might change the body kit or something stupid like that. If it stays true to concept it is definitely a contender for my fall purchase. I just can't make myself like the STI especially the new one. I drove an '05 STI and it was very uncomfortable and as I said before not the sexiest thing to look at.
coming from someone that drove a Type R for 3 years.....
If you loved your old Si then you will faint if you get a chance to drive the new one.....It will make your old si feel like a "le car"
This car is almost as quick as my type r....the better driver would be quicker........
The 6-speed is a complete dream......dont buy that mitsubishi crap.....why does chrysler ruin everything? mercedes, mitsubishi......

I'm in LOVE with my Si. I've owned a 99 GSR , aB16'd CRX, and a 2003 WRX, and I can honestly say I enjoy my new Si the most. The interior is amazing and the car performs wonderfully. Can't say much more, you just have to drive one.
Edit: That Si sedan looks great, if I had a kid I would put myself on the list to get the first one I could.

I love mine. Performs better than I thought it would. This coming from a guy who was previously in a V8 domestic. Sides it has a lot of good features. Excellent STANDARD safety features compared to most of its competitors. Not to mention, its incredibly fun to drive.
My neighbor has an evo and he loves the lines of the new civics. I have driven the SI and an '04 Sti. I would still prefer the SI even without the turbo. It's a nice comfortable drive and it is reliable. So far, my neighbor has not had any problems with his Evo and it is an '05 electric blue. He bought it used with HKS exhaust, fmic, and had around 5k miles or so. It is daily driver and has no mechanical probs except the hose to the throttlebody became unclamped b/c the factory clamps are kind of cheap. Other than that, it's been a good car. IF you want reliable, get the Honda. HOwever, if you take care of the Evo it will take care of you. Check out socalevo.net for more info. Some evo owners still have their original clutch for about 50k miles or more. People say that is the number one reason why the evo is bad. I think those with clutch problems caused them. Just my opinion.
For those of you who say Mitsubishi only makes television or they make shitty cars because someone told you, please tell that person to learn how to drive and learn how to take care of a car. Yes, Evo required a higher maintence cost, but again, Evo is built for racing right out of the box and performance cars are never cheap to maintain its reliabilty and performance.
If you think you know what you doing with a car, and money is not a big issue (maintence on an Evo is not cheap, especially you do not know how to do them yourself), go get an Evo. Of course, test drive both cars before you make any decision.
4 door is always nice regardless how much you love another coupe since you have a 2 year-old. After a while, I bet you will hate reach in the back and settle you son or get him out of the car.
I had my Civic for 7 years and I was very lucky to be able to get my Evo due to my job change. I would have choosen the Si also if I did not have that chance. Anyway, which ever car you choose (Si or Evo), you will still have fun for the money you pay.

Well the only bad thing about getting an Evo is that they will be selling out of new IX's soon since production will end until the release of the Evo X in feb. 2008. Therefore, when I am finally able this summer/fall to buy something I would have to settle for used. Since most dealers are marking up their Si's I am guessing the Evo's won't be that much more. I will be doing most all the maintenance myself so that will save money with either car. I have driven an Evo before and it was the most amazing car I have ever driven (and I have driven a lot of cars previously). It's just hard when I know the Si would in the end be practically be maintenance free.
