need help with used rsx type-s
What are some of the things i should look for in a used rsx type-s, any specific areas to make sure its all in working condition?
also what do you guys think is the better buy, both are about same asking price.
rsx type-s (salvaged title, hit in the front but repaired) with 41k miles
or
rsx type-s (clean title) with 90k miles
how do these engines hold up past 100,000 miles?

I would take a clean title over a salvaged one. The mileage is a bit high, but these Honda engines last quite long, as long as they weren't abused too much.
From what I've seen on forums, go test drive it and watch out for a second gear grind. Hope that helps!

I don't mind driving a repaired car, I do autobody and when I do it myself I guess I can feel a little better about the situation. The only way I would buy a repairable that was fixed already is if I saw before pix. That way you can look at all the places damaged and see if you can find any shortcuts tak'en. If they don't have any pictures at all I don't know how much experience they have in fixing repairables to sell. I have befor during and after pictures, that way if I ever decide to sell it I can show I have nothing to hide.
Heres his ad "Im selling a 2003 Acura RSX-S.It is a salvaged title. It was hit in the front right side by previous owner. I replaced all the old parts with new ones. The car has 41,000 Miles."
when i emailed to ask what parts were replaced he said "The hood weel structure....and one part of the frame".
Im meeting him saturday ill see if he has any before pictures.

there is a difference between a salvaged title and a restored or reconditioned title. as far as i know a salvaged title means that the vehicle was involved in an accident and was never "officially" repaired by a shop or dealer. a restored or reconditioned title means that the vehicle was damaged, probably totalled, and then auctioned off at an insurance auction or something like that. then the dealer that bought it fixes it back into a safe, driveable condition. the dealer then goes to the registry and gets the vehicle inspected. if the state feels that the vehicle is back in safe and driveable condition it will allow the title to be changed from salvaged to restored or reconditioned status. a vehicle would not pass the inspection if the frame was bent or if there were any other major defects in the repairs. now with the salvaged title who knows what the guy did to fix it up, you're basically going from his word and what he says. i wouldn't go with the salvaged title unless you relly trust the guy. hope that helped a little...
i test drove it today and it was great, some alignment problems on the hood were the only visable thing. he said he took it into a body shop to get it repaired. driving down the road it it was fine, didnt pull to the left or right.
im going to take it into a acura dealer to do an inspection on the vehicle soon.
