EF/ED engine bay color: Black or Color-matched??
Just curious as to what everyone thinks about this for our cars. Do you prefer the engine bay painted black, or color-matched to the color of the car??

What do you all think about Gill's EG Hatch? He has the bay black, and I am sort of liking it....SORT OF. When i say black i DONT mean rattle can black, i mean professionally/compressor painted black
Also, does anybody think color-matching can depend on the color of the car??

Check out the underside of his hood, too!

Rattle can flat black if you pull your motor a lot for racing (makes touching up a lot easier). High gloss color matched if you're going for the showcar look
.
Not really a fan of flat black engine bays, but for racing; it's excusable.

I suppose for straight racing, a rattle can job would be ok.

Ha Ha
Another reason I am down for the black bay, is it sort of hides the wires/dirt/clutter a little bit better.
But then again, I always think how clean matched bays look.

i'd post a pic of my engine bay but the only thing that looks good is my timing belt cover b/c it jumped time a couple weeks ago and had to reset with an arrow and a prayer. but only took 3 hours so not that bad. but i know engine bay is black defineately. I'm not what you would call a hood popper, flodger or anything of that sort
i went the extra mile with my paint and i am proud to pop my hood!!!! it sucked doing it but it was worth it,

nope it is a factory mazda color and when i painted mine i pulled the hood off the hatch off both doors and did the undersides and the bay a day before i did the rest of the car when i painted the rest it still took me 20 hours and 2 gallons of color altogether 2 1/2 gallons
Krylon Semi-Flat black on mine.
Rattle can is a must.
Easy fixing.
Plus a nicely cleaned engine or polished block, head and tranny REALLY pop nicely.
Spend that paint-matched $$ on go fast goodies & do something to impress me.
Honestly, does anyone do something OTHER than race an EF?
