i dont have the money or the time to dyno my car until the summer, so i was just wondering what everyone else with the same mods set their vafc at. i know that every motor is different, but at least this way i can get some improvement.

I haven't touched any of the settings yet until i get on they dyno. Obviously do the initial settings provided in the instructions from Apexi. After that you can't do much unless you hit the dyno.

no i mean set the unit for 4 cylinders and those types of things. when i hooked mine up it was showing weird rpms (running fine though). it was due to the VAFC thinking i had a 6 cylinder car!

just keep as something to look at till you get the money to tune it on a dyno. i hasd mine for like 2 months before i touched it.
no engines are the same so you won't be able to use the same settings

ditto. and you'll get flamed if you keep posting up what everyone else's settings. For part throttle settings you'll need an EGT or wideband o2/ voltmeter for street... If you don't know what you're doing, you can simply **** up your car and get from lots of people here...

OT:

How the hell do you install a V-AFC? Do you have to tear apart the dash and all? Is it an easy process? and also, those with really cool spots for their units, did you install yourself or did you have a shop or stereo place do it? Theses questions coming of course from someone who intends to, but does not yet own a V-AFC...

You have to splice into the wiring harness that plugs into the ECU. If you're uncomfortable with splicing the factory wiring harness, you can purchase a harness that goes between the factory wiring harness and the ECU. It's a very simple installation... even for a hick from Oregon

i would just drop the vtec engagement down a little...leave the rest to be tuned on a dyno...you could hinder performance without knowing

Default The best place for vafc

the cleanest place to put it is in between the cf look shifter cover and the ashtray. i took out my cupholders so that it would fit perfectly between. looks really clean. did it myself.very easy install

The cleanest install is hidden under the dash or in the glovebox. There's really no need to have it where thieves can see it.

How did you bring the wires through and did you have some type of bracket or something to secure it?

You can run the wires through the back of the center console (near where the wires for your headunit are) and the V-AFC comes with a mounting bracket and double-sided tape.

So did you have to cut the console at all?

You can hinder performance lowering the VTEC point if you dont have a reason to as well.

Tuning without a proper A/F ratio being given or EGT's (More commonly used for boosted applications) is just plain stupid. Here's just food for thought, instead of just telling you its stupid, here's a good reason why.

You have someone with the same exact mods. Does this mean that because they are the "supposed" to be the exact same mods, your fuel curves are completely identical? Why is it that ITR's run anywhere from 157 to 165 whp @ the dyno's stock. Your location, height above sea level, weather - all contribute to tuning in some way shape or form. Wait until you have the time and money to hit up a dyno. Usually costs anywhere from 50-150$ for an hour on the dyno, and have you tune it yourself. If you need help tuning it, or dont know what your doing - ask someone for help, or even ask here.

You really can do the wiring however you want. Splicing into the wires is fairly simple even if you solder them, and then running them to where-ever you would like to have the VAFC put is your own choice. No cutting is "necessary" but would depend on your specific choice for mounting location and installation.
