i saw that there are 2 types of s80 tranny....its either off a gsr or a ls....my question is which one this tranny is off of? the guy selling it says its a gsr but i just want to make sure!

if the vin is still on the tranny(green tag on the bell housing) says JH4DC2 for the first 6 letter/numbers its a gsr, it it says JH4DC4 its an ls

otherwise you can try to have dealership look up that number to tell you what model car it came off of but sometimes they cant because Ive tried in the past.

 

bar code tag means nothing..literally.

Find a gear, spin input shaft 10 times, do the math for the diff........or else open it up and count teeth.
