:special delivery: B-series Mid plate : hotrod civic install :
whats goin on everyone ?
a small update on my friends hotrod coupe AKA Guinea pig. we(2.0coupe, myself, our ladys, and our friend jamison) were @ the track about 1.5weeks ago. (sunday) and broke a tab off of our trans, the car wouldnt go into gear
monday came around and we were on a mission. place a few calls. im'd a few people on h-t and noone could come through on time. i guess if you want it done, you have to do it yourself.
sooooo............
we went and bought these 2 36x12x1/4inch plates from http://www.vpracecars.com, 4 link mounting brackets, and also got some cardboard/oaktag from them.
we mocked the plate up, cut it from the cardboard/oaktag. took it to http://www.JMfabrications.com . jimmy was cool enough to let us use his bandsaw to cut out our plates with. we also used his drill press/bits/center punchs/ markers. etc. he also milled down our trans case 1/4inch with his new cnc machine.
i had a friend (hondacivicsir1) machine me a length of solid steel for dowl pins@ his day job. we then cut the dowl's to be a 1/4inch longer than stock so they would fit into the engine plate and trans.
also, we had a vinal graphics guy come out and check the car. we are getting stickers made up, they should be done this week sometime.
here are some pics of it.
this is the plate for my car(this is not the same plate as the one in the rest of the pics. but is identical.)

the rear mounting location. dont mind them SICK xrp hose's

the front mounting location

the milled case

the G-force/long shifter. in this picture you can also see the staging brake/line lock and the NLR boost control. the silver bottle in the front is for the fire supression system

an overall shot.

Dave what tab was broken of the trans? Did it keep it from going in every gear? I hope to see the car run Thursday.

it was the rear "19mm" top bolt. wouldnt go into 2nd or 4th. either the shifter mount got tweaked from the engine getting moved or the shifter rod got bent slightly.
i honestly dont know if the trans broke from the bolt being loose or we just had a bad design on it the 1st time around.

Curious, what are you using the "full throttle" switches on the shifter for? Ignition interupt for clutchless shifting?
