Default Exhaust question

I just got my Tanabe Super Medallion Racing exhaust and I am wondering if it would be too hot to run if I removed the stock heat shields...? Is it okay to run without them?

I don't think I ever put the one back on around my cat and it seems fine.

all they do is rattle, mine is off as well.

I tried installing my Random Tech. cat today and the damn thing wouldn't mount up right! I am furious and I am just gonna take it to a shop tomorrow and see what they can do...just thought I'd let you know.
BTW, I love my Tanabe exhaust, it is soooo quiet.
