any one done any leading?
i have a project im doing where im going to be clear coating part of my cars sheet metal directly for part of my paint sceme. this part of the body is getting shaved and smoothed but since it will be cleared i cant use any filler that will show through the clear so ive ordered some lead to start practicing with. ive read a little on the technique but am a little sketchy on the details of the process. if any one has ANY experience with this can you please fill me in on some tips using the lead tinning butter and tallow, and i will be using some lead free body solder for the final project and i think that this uses different compounds than the tallow and/or tinning so if you have any tips on this stuff as well that would be great.
and will the color of the lead/lead free closely match the color of the bare sheet metal?

Eastwood sells a video on using lead filler. They also sell all of the tools, etc. Start out with simple flat stuff until you get used to it. Gradually work your way up to vertical surfaces.
yeah thats where i bought the lead from that im practicing with i just wanted to try to figure it out withhout buying the $30 dvd. and is that car in your avitar the one i saw in the painting forum getting flames on eastwoods site?

but silver paint and raw engine turned or grinded metal dont look anything alike. and the lead free body solder doesnt shrink or crack over time and is 100 times stronger than plastic filler. plus most of the time easier and cheaper LOOK easier and cheaper.

I have seen the clearcoat over the sheetmetal look end up rusty before. I am not sure if the wrong clearcoat was used or if clearcoat allows air to pass.

The car in my avitar is the car in my driveway.
