nevermind i found out what the IAB is........
I have one question though for anybody who can help (the more opinions the better)
--To drop a jdm b18c1 into my 94 civic coupe ex, do i have to do anything or get anything extra than what comes with it at hmotorsonline, or does it drop right in like a b16a would?
I know many people have done this, so if you have let me know what you had to do or if you know how to then let me know
thanks

It will drop right in. You will have to wire up the IAB and the knock sensor (if you haven't already with the B16).

is this hard or is it pretty easy... also are these 2 sensor wires expensive?
and will the axels and mounts i get from hmo work on my car?

Yes, wiring this is easy. Check the ECU thread to find out what pins you need to wire them in. The Integra mounts and axles will work.

Invest on getting a GSR USDM wire harness and that will make it like... 70% more easy

How? He will still need to wire up the IAB and knock sensor from the shock tower to the ECU. The GSR harness will only prewire the IAB and knock sensor wires from the sensor to the shock tower.

Cmon, you didn't think before you wrote that did you.. Lets see, some wires are not going to reach their plug destination, that means hes going to have extend his pre existing wires.. thats more work. He has to add wires for the knock sensor. And if he doesn't want the wires to fling back and forth due to vibration or high speed hes going to have to either buy wire ziptie like clips or use real zipties which isn't all that great since it will produce stress to wires if you tighten them too hard or at a wrong location. Overall if you want a clean job ask anyone, getting a gsr engine wire harness makes it easier. But if you weren't aware then you are just "un-informed."

Also, to wire up IAB is quite easy with the GSR wire harness, all you gotta do is switch the "purge solenoid" pin from the ECU A20 which is the "purge solenoid" to the A17 which will be your new IAB solenoid. For the other wire you run through the firewall or wire them up to any Yellow/Black wire you see on the shock tower.
So what for knock sensor? Replug it from the shock tower and run it to the ECU, a lot easier then HUNTING down the plug CLIP and then rewiring it into the ECU.

How are you going to ask me "HOW its easier?"
It will cost more money but ask yourself HOW it is NOT easier. That just doesn't make sense.

Can you please inform us with how you swapped in your B18C5 HB VX you got in your signature? did you even try to mess with OBD2 to OBD1 or did you do a OBD2 wire harness plugged into the tower and then from the ECU converted to OBD1?

Trust me, GSR engine wire harness around 100 give or take 20 dollars is worth it for all the trouble.

You guys are complicating things. Look, all you need is the motor, gsr mounts, p72 ecu(or p28), gsr axles, and the engine wiring harness. If you're getting a complete swap, it will have everything you need. Make sure its obd1 or you'll need a conversion harness too. And as for wiring up the iabs, just get a hasport harness thats made for this swap (its plug and play). Dont sweat, this swap is cake.

I did the exact swap, except my coupe is a 93 (check sig). Everything you need comes from hmotorsonline unless you get the JDM motor like i did. If you get the JDM motor then you will have to buy a USDM engine harness because in japan all the electronics are on the opposite side of the car (driver sits on opposite side so ecu is on opposite side as well). Other than that its a cake walk. IAB's are very simple to hook up if you search or you could just buy a skunk2 IM like i did.

unfortunatley I was poor at the time and didn't have enough money to buy a USDM engine harness, so I just extended ALL of the wires to the opposite sides of the engine bay... yes.. it took FOREVER. You can find them around on h-t. people sell them all the time. Good luck with the swap .
