Anyone know the Redline for a stock d16y8?????

 

its either 6800-7000. Can't tell from the small pic.

 

6800 rpm? correct me if im wrong cause i dont own a sohc. All dohc vtec power for me

this is a pic of a cluster from an autmatic lx I believe thats why the redline is below 7200...looks like 6800 on the pic

No it isn't. That's the D16Z6 redline.

D16Y8 is 6900 RPM.

Ok, guess that makes sense, My cluster says 7200 in my ej2

 

D16y8 civic cluster will show redline starts at 6800rpm but doesn't hit the rev limiter around 7500rpm.

 

i own a 97 civic hx SOHC the redline is 6800 rpm ! hope this helps (USDM) if that even makes a diffrence

are you sure about that cause only 92-95 ex/si rev that high for a single cam. Maybe you were running a obd2 to obd1 conversion with the p28 ecu

 

The redline starts at about 6900 rpms, but it doesn't cut off until about 7100.

 

just get a dohc... i have a excluster in my hatch (the one shown above actually minus the automattic thingy) and i bring the needle well into the 8K's and i love it... it really makes my passengers speak up aqnd "let me know" that my rpms are about 2K into the red" but to your Q... this was pulled out of a d15y7 car... but on the tach, the red starts at 6800.... but theres a second line at 7100 ish too... so i think honda just did that to be able to use the same cluster design... so i wuld just play it on teh safe side and keep 6800 in your head

What is this? Someone asks a question about a Y8 redline and we have all the swollen heads in the world who, of course, drive DOHC's boasting about how gret it is to rev to the moon. I guess its great when you roll a B16 and you NEED to rev to the moon to keep up with that full size truck next to you, but there is more to speed then revving the **** out of your ride.

You might want to check your source... because the Y8 DOES reline lower then the Z6.

see, I was always under the impression they were the same, but nontheless, the max you can rev a stock SOHC vtec engine is right around 7200-7400, that is roughly where rev limiter is...mine is 6500 on my b7(rev limiter that is)
