Default Best "SHORT RAM" intake?

Currently I have the K&N RU3130 filter. But, you have to connect it with PVC. I would rather not do this. Choices?

1) the "new" k&n that slides into our stock piping.

2) AEM which I guess you could run short ram...didn't someone say it necked down toward the TB, as opposed to our stock intake pipe.

3) Injen - who sells their system as a short ram, also cheaper than just not using the lower piece of the AEM.

I would prefer not to run the airbox. Just a short ram. So I am leaning toward Injen. I don't like the metal tubing, so I suppose I would wrap it to keep the temps down.

Anyone have any thoughts on the best short ram set-up?
Thanks for the help!

go to a muffler shop and have them make a custom 3" pipe.

Go to ebay and buy one of their $25 intakes. If you don't like the filter they come with buy a "real' K&N filter or brand of your choice. A pipe is basically a pipe.

ummm how about the AEM short ram intake lol if u want the best 1 don't get any!!!!!!. think about it your sucking engine bay air in!!! that's hot air performance will go . the stock air intake sucks from the wheel well which is restricted by the resonator in the wheel well but sucks outside air. same thing with the AEM Cold Air or any other cold air intake. don't waste your money.

Why do you always run your mouth man, you rarely have something good to say, and you don't know your ****!
Here's from AEM's site:
Integra 1997-2001 Type-R 21-412 N/A 20-403s The NA is under the short ram column. Now maybe you could have said, take the second piece off the intake and you'll have a short ram, but you said, buy the short ram..which there isn't one.

think about it your sucking engine bay air in!!! that's hot air performance will go
You think about it! Why don't you stick your head under my hood @ 60-100 mph. See how much the air is moving around under there. I'll admit, it's probably warmer though than from the fender though, but I wouldn't say it's a huge diff.

Lastly...have you read any of sgT's posts, regarding short ram intakes. See his plot's? He outflows AEM cold air with the Short ram set-up he has. Tell him that his intake sucks. I'd take 12's any day of the week in my R. And I'd say it depends on the application. Crazy RPM's with lumpy cams I think would like the short ram better, based on all the things I've read here! Maybe for your stock set-up it's fine, but I prefer to change mine, with the mods I have planned.

If you find that AEM short ram for sale, let me know

Sorry for being a dick, it's just that I'm looking for some good answers.
Thanks for trying to help

Another possible option would be to buy a short ram and then enclose the filter in the factory air box. Then custom fit some tubing to the lower part of the air box to supply cold air, similar to the Icebox. I did this on a friends GS-R, who has a B18c5 and it worked great. He was actually sick of the hydrolock potential (he has the B18c5 because he hydrolocked the B18c1) so we cut his AEM CAI where it would connect to the air box. The filter fits in there pretty damn good and no potential for hydrolock and better top end pull.

The Mugen CAI is the best short ram intake. It just comes with a very large tapered housing that directs cooler air from the fender well similar to the stock intake location. It utilizes a K&N-like S2000 cone filter on an aluminum velocity stack. It works better that the AEM (which I owned before this one). I also tried a short ram setup too. No comparison.

A good filter like the Apex'i with custom pipe should be good.

I don't see the pipe from AEM or DC can perform any better than the one you can buy from a muffler shop.

But IF I have the money, MUGEN all the way!!

Yep. The first version ('96-97) won't even fit if you have ABS!!!!

thats the best setup, l have done this since the first time i bought my car and it is just so good. I had my FC Commander to observe my intake temperature, having it under the wheel well and heat shielded intake with custom piping to draw cold air has negligible difference.
