Default better performance? tubular?

hey guys im new here but ive had my 2005 s2000 for about a year. im doin the research now before i start modding. ive found several front upperstrut bars. but which provides better driving performance the lightweight aluminum, or ive seen tubular steel designs.?

also i want to do some exhaust work but ive read that on the s2k the exhaust mods only effect the sound but no hp gains. does anybody know if this is true? im looking to put money into my car but not turning it into a full racecar. i have the know how i just dont want to throw in parts that are pointless, money better spent elsewhere.

this is my first post as a new member so thanks for the help....

front upper strut bar will do nothing for our cars other then engine bay bling....if you want something that'll affect your stock handling get the x brace...

as for exhausts, it can go so many differnt ways.... the bennefit of most exhaust systems is the lighter weight and the sound... if you want a big power increase you'll have to go with a single exhaust...

depends on which one you get.... you can get a normal single like the jic and get around 5-8hp... or you can get the j's or amuse (depending on what model) can vary in hp numbers....

truely when it comes down to it, it's all about preference in looks and sound and maybe weight.... but if you want the most hp.. you'll be looking for the j's 70rr or the t1r 70mm..

If your going turbo dont buy anything... Or buy AEM EMS so you can have that out of the way. If you need exhaust then get 3" or something compareable and just deal with it while your NA.

if you're going to turbo charge the car you might want to wait out on an exhaust.... but that all depends on your power goals....

i personally am running an hks dual right now... power is blah but the sound is far better then most of the exhuasts out there... however i'm upgrading to a custom 3 inch with apexi n1 muffler in the next week or two....

I'd skip the x-brace too.

What are you goals for the car?

well the local drag strip up here where they have supernationals for nhra is building a road corse that theyre finishing up now, so id like to have the car to run there, i want to up the horsepower without going crazy, but smart pickups to take advantage of the engine because i still want a reliable car to drive, in a couple monthes i will get a 2nd car but i still want a good car that i wont get harrased by the cops in.

the front suspension i noticed definately needs tightening up so the x brace seems smart, but it def needs some god performing coilovers, then the braking needs to be reliable for the track, i put higher performance ceramic pads in for a quick fix, but im looking at slotted rotors or something like that to add.

i dont want the biggest brake kit ever made, i want the brakes that do the job... kinda the theme for the wholecar, not what looks the best but real performance upgrades.
