new to EP3s
i was interested in a 03-05 EP3. i was wondering is there any complaints that yous guys might have with them. anything at all. im new to them. all ive ever driven was crx's and i love my crx, but i want a newer car, and i really like the SI. i was also wondering what where the changes from the 2001-02 models. i know there is a little cosmetic things, but i dont know what. i think the front bumper and the head and tail lights look differnt, but other than that i dont really know what the diffecnes are. and also how much do you think that they might me worth. i know that there are varibals like milage, condison and such, but roughly how much do you think that the should run. thanks for your wisdom guys. you gotta take me ef knowlage into account. i dont know too too much about the EP3.
thanks
thanks
04 - 05 (versus the 02 - 03) has:
- diff. headlights/tail lights/OEM side skirts
- 5 lug set-up.
- automatic windows.
- few problems with other crap like steering racks, clutch master cylinder, door actuators, etc.

- bigger rear sway bar
- bigger wheels (16 v. 15, not sure abour width)
As others have said, ephatch.com has loads of info and helpful folks.

The bigger rear sway is 17 mm, whereas the previous version was 15 mm. The wheels, while bigger, are also heavier, but come with 205/55-16 tires. A little bigger diameter than the stock 02-03 size, which was 195/60-15. A bonus is that 205/55-16 has a much greater variety of tires available, whether in that same size, in equivalent 16" sizes, or same-diameter sizes for 17" wheels. The turning radius is also different for the 04-05 models (can't remember which way, though; might be bigger).
Regrets? My only regret is that Honda didn't bring us the Type-R. You probably can't call it a regret, though -- more of a disappointment in American Honda. Maybe one other regret is the limitations of its suspension design, although you'll only find those limits when you're at the track. Otherwise it's plenty of fun.
I maintain that it's the best-ever Civic hatchback available in the US, and as far as we're concerned, its uniqueness makes it stand out. It was the only hatchback from Honda for four years (the Insight excepted), and it was only available as a sporty model. No half-assed posers with store-bought "Si" emblems here -- every EP3 is an Si (or faster!).

I have none.. I had a 99 civic ex before and was specptical about getting a newer car and spending the money but now I think it was the best move ever. The power is much better used. For example you dont have to rev the **** out of it to go someplace and I can be in 5th gear and merge into traffic perfectly fine. Trust me you will not be dissapointed on the buy. The one thing I did not like with it though when I got it was the silver dash but that was easly fixed with some nice gun metal flake paint.

I love mine to death, but my jdm swirl marks make me cry everytime I get in the car (I have a porter cable on the way though, so no worries). My only complaint is that HFP si wheels did not come standard on our 04-05's. Besides that, I'm just awaiting 2007 when I finish my engine build up

One thing to note about the '05 is that the VIN# is stored in the ECU, so if you do an ECU swap, and your state emissions test checks for such things, they'll probably give you grief over having a non-stock ECU...
Hondata knows the details better than I do.

I just picked up my 05 EP and I love it. The only thing is gas, it picks up pretty well though. I have no complaints. I'm trying to find suspension mods for it (I'm on EPhatch.com too) they're pretty costly. I'm just a lowly college student. It's a really fun car to drive even at stock height. I want to swap a RSX Type-S motor into it. Good car all around though.
