I was wondering how you would cover up scratches on your car? I just bought a black 98 civic lx and theres some scratches on there. My friend said to get touch up paint but I dont know what kind. Would touch up paint work?

its not that deep
you could see them in the light but at night, there pretty much hard to see. I heard waxing/buffing it out would work a bit. Should I find some touch up paint for it? what kind should i get?

try buffing it out before anything...i work at a car detailing place and the stuff we use works good its called 06 or XP polish, that stuff works real good to take out little scratches.
good luck trying to find it though, i think its only commercial, but you might beable to find it.

I would get a new paint job but I dont think its necessary yet. From far away the paint looks shiny and all but until you get close. Theres tiny scratches everywhere. So I should just try buffing/ waxing it up first before adding any touch up paint to it right?
if you run your nail over the scratch lightly and you CAN feel the scratch its too deep and wont buff out.. but if you dont feel it, it may be possible to buff out. i suggest you pay someone who knows what they're doing to buff the car. You could try by hand but it wont cut out the scratch. don't try to buff it yourself if you dont know what your doing, could make it worse. goodluck

Where exactly are the scratches?
Living in SF, driving on those fucked up *** roads, you are bound to get rock chips, among other things. By that time, you will probably need to repaint your bumper.
I know scratches show up really bad on a BLACK car, but just buff it out with the rotary buffer thing with Meguiar's products (previously mentioned, SkratchX), and their 3-Step wax thing.
Beat the car and have fun, until it's really bad then get it repainted

the scratches are mostly on the back of the trunk and very tiny ones on the hood</TD></TR></TABLE>
depends who does it. 100-150 it might cost. thats for a complete wet sand and buff.

yes you can do it yourself. but you gotta know what you are doing. if you dont have the materials to do it, it might cost you more to do it yourself. try going to a local body shop and see what they charge. wet sanding and buffing your car will make it look like a new paint job.
