Default Do I need to replace this seal?

I was replacing my throwout bearing today and I noticed that a rubber seal on my transmission looks a little eaten up. here is a picture:

Hopefully the picture is okay enough for you to see the damage. I believe this is where the axles attach to the transmission.

Should I replace this seal, or is ti good? Should I just replace it because it's cheap and easy to do?

BTW, replacing the throwout bearing was probably the easiest thing I've done on my car so far.

Yes replace both sides while you have it out. Axle seals only run a few dollars and it will be one less thing to go wrong later. Blown axle seals are messy.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm hoping to get this puppy on the engine tonight.

Happy Zombie Jesus Day!

Honda's website is quoting it at $10 per side. I must be looking at the wrong part number. Care to share or point me in the right direction? I couldn't find these parts on autozone's website either, but they could be there.

go to your local napa store they should have them in stock... the online parts directory is not as good as the store's... it also might be in a book say its a federal mogul or a timken seal it will have to be looked up in a book not on there directory

it will also be cheaper than the dealership

don't go to napa, I bought axle seals there once and the sizes were WAY off. I even confirmed that they were for the right car on their website and everything. Get the oem seals

Thanks... Exactly what part should I be asking for.

sorry for the newb questions, but I don't want to drive back and forth 3 times to get the right part.

I have ones from napa in my car right now and they are just fine. They would be called inner axle seals.

Its not hard to replace and you could do it just for piece of mind. Replacing it when the box is back in the car isn't hard either, I've just thrown my B16A with y1 box back in my EF9 and there still plenty of room under there
