Roll Cage Question.
Hey guys, just doing some fitment of my cage into my EG hatch. Just wondering if the main hoop has to be square, or 90 degrees with the floor. I've seen a lot of pictures that show the main hoop titled slightly back ( base closer to the front than the top). Is there any rule or advantage to this, or is this incorrect. Thanks. Looking to SCCA, nothing to serious, but still want it to be correct. Thanks again.

Hmm, don't think I would be to crazy about a pre bent "universal" cage in my race car. Details?
If you gonna go through with all the money and pain of putting a cage in, fitment should be of prime importance!

check the rule book of the organization in which you will be racing, they have very specific rules regaring the cage construction.

Main hoop can be laid back a bit, check your National or regional rules to see if the main hoop and a maximum angle. I try not to lay it back no more than 10-15 degrees. Line it up with the B-pillars to the same angle, looks a lot better when it aligned. Keep in mind to keep the main hoop within the rule parameters for clearance.
I always make the main hoop perpendicular to the frame of the car. Doing it slanted back is just for looks.
Plus it's much much easier to bend up and notch bars when say the two parallel Nascar bars will be of the exact same dimensions.
