This is in a bone stock 03 S2000. I know my 60' is ****, but when I tried to launch really hard I smelt clutch something awfull. So I feathered it the last two runs. Tell me what yall think and any tricks or helpfull hints would be great. I also would like to add that this is the first RWD car I have owned since I was 16. (now 31) Flames welcome as well I know I did shitty. But I had the time of my life. I am hooked now.

This is the car..... my new toy. lol

First time was at about 5500 and then floored it, that is when I started to smell clutch and the tires didn't spin or anything. All I smelt was clutch after that run. So I just let off easy the last 2 and as soon as I started to roll I gunned it.
EDIT: I did preload so I wouldn't put too much shock on the rear end. Cause I know that is the weakest point of the S.

I also wieghed the car.... and Damn!!!!!! 2975 with me in it. And I am not a very big guy. 5'8" 190lbs.
C'mon guys... any help would be appreciated. I am just getting into drag racing. Specailly yall that run RWD cars. (mainly S's) I need help. I seen a damn Dodge truck run a better time than me.(15.1) And it was one of those full size trucks. (not the SRT 10) I was almost ashamed to be there.....
2.6-2.8 60fts! wow i think thats a record.
don't feel bad, as long as you had fun, and its all about self improvement. I don't think the OE clutch will last very long with the required high RPM launches for great 60fts.

Do you think with maybe a 2.2 or so 60' and my MPH I can hit a high 13? I am new to this dragstrip thing so sorrry for all the questions.

You may need a little better than a 2.2 but thats a good start. Once you get it down there all it will take is a little more practice to get into 2.0 60ft land. 2.0 60ft along with some quick shifting and you will be in the 13's. But first you must get into the 14's.

Dude... that was what I was hoping for to begin with..
When I was in the tech area they asked me if I had a helmet, cause they said these cars hit 13's all the time.
And I almost set my car on fire when I got my first time slip.....
I was so mad. But thanks for all the help and input guys. the more yall help the better chances I have of getting my time better. But thanks again.

I already posted in S2000 forum.... just wondered what the drag racing comunity thought. I seen one other S out there and he ran a 15.7 so I didn't feel too bad.
Maybe these cars are just slow, until you SC or turbo them. *shrugs* But thanks for the input guys.

Well... I would it depends on how good your track is that you go to. But since you said the track marshalls asked if you had a helmet since other S2000s hit 13s... I'd assume the track is actually quite decent. I'm surprised they didn't make you wear a helmet anyway since the car is a soft-top.
However, your MPH seems too low. I understand the last two runs if you just rolled out of the hole. But that car should be trapping a good 98 - 100 mph stock. Possibly more.
But don't get discouraged, this was your first time and great skills come from practice and more practice. So go practice some more... after the clutch upgrade of course.
I don't know who makes S2000 clutches but just get the lowest 'stage' street disc if it's your daily. Don't want overkill or anything that's a pain in traffic. I'm sure ACT and Clutchmasters make clutches for the car.
Good luck.
P.S. Once you get into 2nd gear... don't let off of the throttle.
And shift it like it's a rental car. LOL.
