Should I get a 2003 or 2004 S2000?
I'm thinking of selling my Prelude and getting a S2000. But not sure which year to get. I know the 2003 and below are 2.0 and the 2004 and above are 2.2. But which one should I get I've seen little difference in body work and interior options in the cars. So which year do you guys think I should get?

Depends on what you want to do with it. If it is for cruising and daily street driving then the ap2 is easier for most US drivers. Little more hp and torque on average (I think the dispute is about over that the average ap2 does produce more hp than the average ap1). A few folks have even replaced the ap2 ecu with an ap1 and been running at 9k rpm (we'll see how long they last, but at least one I know has been going for 2 years now)...of course they are seeing significantly better hp. Suspension is a bit softer and better designed for average US drivers.
If you want to autox in stock class, then the ap1 is still the champ. Gearing is more autox friendly as are the available R-compound tire sizes and the suspension set-up is tuned more for the agressive driver, but is a bit more twitchy and unforgiving.

If you are new to RWD, and by new I mean you have never tracked a RWD more than twice, or you never plan to track or auto-x it then get the AP2. It's smoother to daily drive than the AP1. It is also alot more "forgiving" than an AP1 while tracking. AP1s are twitchy and are so netrual that it takes alot of getting used to for tracking.
Also just If you do get a S2000 remember this if nothing else. If you come out of a turn too hot, do NOT lift or brake.

They are??
S2000 track records held by ap1's:
Laguna Seca
Sears Point
Thunderhill
Willow Springs

Sebring
Spring Mountain

To be honest, I think it is very track dependent and driver dependent. Some driving styles will be better suited to the ap1 and others to the ap2.

Well I've driven RWD my whole life. Had a Z28 Camero, GT Mustang, Cobra, and Trans AM. Now that I own the Prelude because I wanted a gas saver, which is much better then my GT, but its lacking power, and I'm not that happy with FWD. I want to get a 04 S2000 but they are hard to find around my area. Well some things that I would like to do to it is drive it daily, maybe do some show, and some street racing once I get the f*ck out of this state.
i got a 03 a few months ago and love it. imo i dont like the short power band of the 2.2 motor in the ap2. i also dont like the interior changes to the ap2's. i like the 02-03 ap1's best. i have driven 00,02,03 ap1's and a 04,05 ap2. i had my choice and i got a ap1.

Make sure you're equipped with spoon and motec.

when you first drive them for the first time, its very similar drive.
i personally like the way the ap1 look,
when i was looking for mine i didn't care if i got a ap1 or ap2 as long as i got a good deal on a mint one.
not that i regret getting mine, but the ap2 has more to offer,
i hate the ap2 steering wheel though
ALSO, you have to be realistic and see what you can afford.

I hear ya...but if the ap2 were that much quicker, then by now a hotshoe would have been using it as a platform and have taken down Krazak's records. And for some of Dave's records, they were done in his much more stock car.
Plus, I know that Scott's (aka airsport) ap1 is not too far off stock either and his Sebring record has held up quite well. And he set that record in the 1st year he owned the car (I actually was his race instructor when he first got the car).
So what was Aaron's experience? Or should I shoot him an email? Think I still have it when I emailed him about his s2k rollbar.

lmao...i love the people saying the AP2 is a better daily driver than the AP1...hahaha, its hilarious. Seriously, both of the cars are fantastic, neither of them are good daily drivers...the difference is all about where you like power...AP1 has an exciting high end, AP2 has a fantastic gear setup when you're pushing it...
So which one should you get? Whichever is a better buy for you down the road...because both cars are great.

Didn't know he'd picked up an ap2? Thought he was co-driving Rylan's car and running a spec Miata.
