Default Exhaust Droning...

I was looking into getting a Fujitsubo Powergetter exaust for my 05' RSX, but I like to take my car on long trips and was wondering for the people who have this exhaust, is there an annoying droning sound when driving for a long time?

I am also hearing that Comptech exhaust is good too. Anybody have problems with droning noises on long trips?

Droning problems for the Fujitsubo Powergetter? How about the HKS Hi-Power?

Does the RS-R Ex Mag have a deep sound to it and does that exhaust have any droning to it?

From what I've heard in person, the Ex Mag is very quiet at idle and at cruise. But at WOT it is throaty. RS-R is high quality stuff...and looks great IMO, classy...

I've got an RM-01A on my EP, and I have to say that it does drone a bit when you're going up or down hills. It gets quieter above 3800-4000 RPM, but that's hauling *** in 5th gear.

HOWEVER.... I haven't compared it to other aftermarket exhausts. Whenever I go to a meet, we're all driving our own cars, and I haven't ridden in other EP's with other exhausts. You'd think that we would do such a thing, but noooo...

that means u can never drive ur car at 70-80 mph if u dont want to deal wit hthe droning at 80 mph, your car sits at about 4k rpm's.

i've got an ep3. i have a greddy EVO2 that is considerably quieter than the magnaflow i had.

i also used a bit of dynamat in the hatch/cargo area. it helped a lot. it doesn't add much weight, maybe 5-7#. hatchbacks like the ep3 and rsx have that huge open area in the rear, so keeping the resonance down is the key. i've read of people using thicker coverings on the floors in the hatch, and under the hatch cover (in other hatchbacks).

So you just lined the hatch area with dynamat? How much did it cost to cover it? and did it get rid of the droning or just make it more bearable?

I spoke with A-J Racing today in regards for an exhaust setup for my RSX-S. Now he said that the T1R 70R Exhaust is not droning or loud unless you get on it. Its more of japanese muscle per say. I would look into that. Spoon is raspy when you get on it and you dont want that or drone. Call them up there very helpful.

Going OT - I had (sold the car) OBX Twin Loop muffler. Went from SF Bay area to Tucson AZ. 12 hours at 70-90 mph. Never a problem with droning. My ears were clear the whole time.

I don't know who sell OBX anymore. I got mine on ebay. Now they sell some other "cheaper" twinloop junk.

Compare to Magnaflow. I got drone in about 1 hr.

Fuji and The HKS for sure have a drone. Any real performance exhaust will at certain rpms. I had a 5Zigen fireball (not the race one) and it was like stock unless I went WOT. People had no idea they were in a turbo car till I stepped on it.

When mashing out, how does the 5Z fireball sound? Is it ricey or throaty?
