Default Need to replace ECU 98 Accord. What's with the key thing?

So apparently something fried in my ECU. (I got a oxygen sensor circut malfunction code and traced it to the ECU using the Honda tech manual. I opened up the ECU and found a fried MOSFET) I bought a used ECU with the exact same part number but the car will just crank and crank without starting and the green key light flashes telling me that the immobilizer system is kicking in. So is there a way to use the ECU I bought? Can this ECU be flashed to work with my keys or do I have to get keys made to work with this ECU? Or????

Something will have to be re-programed. I suggest you bring proof of ownership with you to the dealership.

I'm seriously considering just unsoldering the bad chip and replacing it from the ECU I just bought.

Well I just hope you know what you're doing on that one. You could end up with two ECUs that are ruined.

Here is how you do it

Take your key that fits the ignition to a key cutting place and have it cut on a flat key!

Then tape the other ECUS key to the head facing the opposite way. Unless you perminently changed it, in which case bye.. go to the dealer

Yeah, I don't have a key for the replacement ECU.

you have to tow it to the dealer and have them reprogram the ECU to your car's current key. You can replace the MOSFET but unless you are sure that you have fixed the condition that caused it to blow up, you'll just fry the new one.......
