Default break up problem, help plz :(

For those of you that give me the link to the search button, it's down, so shhhh plz and only give me helpful stuff

Anyways..

I finally got my paperwork for my civic (stock D16Z6 '95 coupe [EX])..yeah, it's about time, I was about to shoot up a DMV 'cause it's like 2 weeks overude...

Anyways, I put it back together and got it on the road and drove it prolly totalling 30 minutes tonight and I have a prob. When it was in my driveway, it was near empty, and since it doesn't have a gas light, I didn't wanna push it, so I went about 3 -5 miles and got gas...on the way down to the gas station, I felt it break up a little, at first I felt it might be running low on gas or the gas that's in there might be stale (hasn't ran like, up the road and such in like 2 months)...so I filled it up..

I should have did some doughnuts or something to mix the old with the new, but I'm sure it's mixed now anyways..

So I left there and headed to a job I had to do, and I notice the break up even more now, it's like...complex

sometimes, it's shaky when you don't do a start over 1400 RPM's, like shaky as in like any other car that's running at 500 RPM's like you didn't give it enough gas before you pulled the clutch....seems it needs to be given more than it should to go..

So 1st gear seems to be fine, powerful, cracks vtec, goes fine, if I redline 1st it'd at 4000RPMs (approx, prolly higher) and it's fine also

Now, if i drive normally, shift at say 4k (which even that is a bit high, but because of this problem I've been doing that) and it has different break ups at different RPM's

like, anywhere from 1k to 1.8k in 2nd gear is like, forget about it, a guy on a bike could beat me, it feels like it it's about to stall and has no power, and it starts to break up really badly, then at EXACTLY 2.5k it seems to straighten out and push 3x as hard, like it's hitting vtec....but still breaks up like crazy, then at 3600 - 3700 it like, hits another "vtec" -- it's not "the vtec", but it like, has more power and it becomes a little more stable... Then from that point to the vtec crack it MIGHT break up once, if at all, but it's usually pretty smooth in that area, after vtec cracks, it's smooth and powerful all the way to the redline..

basically said, I can't put it under 3k or it gets shaky (like bad gas, or break up, or something to that effect) and has no power..

Now this IS my first honda and I do relize because of the vtec it handles differently from most other cars, but these numbers are absurd, and I don't think any car should be breaking up like this is...

My boss's NSX has vtec, it's a 3.2L V6 vtec, and it doesn't do this at all, it feels like a regular (non vtec) engine but after like 4k it mashed down on power...but it's still steady no break ups, and I can put the RPM's to like 1.3 and let it out w/o any shakyness, and it'll be fine at 2k in 2nd...so I knwo it's not acting like other vtec engines....and for those of you who are about to say "you're comparing a built up NSX to a stock civic" I know, but the principle's still the same, it shouldn't be breaking up like it is..

I'm sorry if this is badly worded, if you are inquizitive about a certain part of it just say so and I'll try to explain it better, I'm not really looking for flame (though I'll probably get it)...I just don't feel I should have to keep it in 3rd at 45-50 mph just so it stays above 3k RPMs and doesn't break up...

And while I'm posting once and the search feature is broken, got another Q for those of you who've done more cosmetic work...and it roles like this:

The ******** that owned the car before me (even though took very good care of it) used plastic ******* screws to put the license plates on...the plates are gone, the screws are still there, they're very malible and I want them out so I can regualarly bolt up my license plate....Since the heads just bend and twist when you stick a screw driver in there, I have to tap them out some how, but they're covered by the other metal piece in the trunk..so does anybody know how to access where the screws come in from the license plate so I can try and pop these gay *** plastic ones out...Right now I have it ghetto rigged w/ zip ties and though it looks fine, it's still a half *** job, and I don't like to do those...so if somebody could tell me how to get to them from inside the trunk so I could tab them out I'd greatly appreciate it.....then I g2 try to punch a metal nut that's merged with the plastic in the thing in the front....I can't believe it, plastic license plate screws.....Anyways, any help for either problem is major thx

Any flame I'm probably nto going to flame you back, just say <^> you now...

EDIT:
Also, I know it could need a tune up etc. So when I get a chance I'ma buy plugs, wires, fuel filter, and possibly replace the rotar/cap

Okay, n00b moment of the day - my engine (94 civic EX) says "VTEC" on it, am I not feeling vtec either?

EDIT - after perusing wikipedia, I have come to the conclusion that DOHC vtec is more effective than SOHC vtec. Marketing...

EDIT:

I can't respond to this in any nice form, I'm sorry..

You don't know what I was feeling buddy? Me neither, I thought I was feeling vtec, but it must have been your mom - at 4800 RPMs.

put some fuel injector cleaner in your car. it may be a bad injector or something inside your distributor.

90K approx, no CELs, I'll check the injectors within the week, I'm hoping on replacing the injectors anyways (and with a tune up of plugs/wires/rotar/cap it might jsut be a stupid problem)

I know my friend's got a souped up camaro and he has PFI (programmed by a performance company on a dyno) and the settings got fucked somehow and it breaks up at 5.5k, and being gay, so I was j/w if this was somethign a simple tune up would cure (as I have to get the parts and it's been raining...so yeah..)

Thx, I'll look into the fuel filter if the tune up doesn't cure it, but wouldn't the TPS change the idle? It idles fine.

Et yeah, I will add some fuel injector cleaner, whenever I get to.....autozone or wal*mart O.o

*bump, I'm going out today to get new wires and plugs, guess I'll runsome fuel injector cleaner through there as well....then I guess the next step's looking at the cap :-\

the breakup doesn't concern me as much as the no power until like 2.5k where it jumps solid...

the break up..is it like a serious bogging of power? for some reason one day my car bogged down insanely and i punched out the cat and everything was good after that.

sounds like high resistance in the plug wires to me. or maybe the coil not sending enough spark through them.

if you're in tune with your motor as your driving you would definately be able to hear and feel vtec......jesus i drive a VX and can tell when vtec-e is engaged

clean your injectors with that gass additive, do the tuneup and cee what happens

vtec-e is way more noticable than a SOHC regular vtec like the z6. its going from 12valve to 16valve, so its way more noticable.

vtec fluid?

I've never heard of that, and got a bad feeling ur dicking with me...so all I can really say is "no, there's no leaks" if you're being sincere about it, but if ur being a jerk about it the flipside is simply "go expletive yourself"
