someone's siphoning off your gas.
No, but for real, do you smell gas at all, b/c my first guess would be a gas leak. Have you noticed any puddles or oily residue? I don't know of a mechanical problem that would cause you to burn 10 gallons of gas over a 75-100 mile range, unless you have 4 more cylinders hidden somewhere.

a bad map sensor can also be a direct cause for terrible mileage. I was clocking less than 100 to a full tank when mine was bad. Car ran disgustingly rich.
Also look to the primary 02 sensor, thats a large factor in gas milage as well.

score! Must have been leaving a trail down the road as you drove.

A bad map sensor would throw a code.
Did you touch the distributor at all? If you mess with the timing, it will increase gas mileage.
But from the sounds of it, 25miles and it's almost empty. More then likely a leak.
Check to make sure you tightened the new fuel filter up, also, run the car and sniff anyway. It's either a bad line or the tank itself.
Best of luck.

A going-bad one would not though.
