Default ECU HELP!!!!

My car runs fine and is really strong....today tho it was back firing alot so i figured it was the plugs...i look at them and they are fine...
I look at my ecu to see if i am throwing any codes...they light doesnt blink at all.
I know you put the ignition on and watch it....but it doesnt blink?!?!
Does this mean i have a bad ecu?....and what could have caused it?

BTW..already searched...no answers

if the ecu doesnt flash right when you put the key in the run position there is something wrong with it.

True...but today ...i pulled my o2 sensor out to see if it would throw a code...and the check engine light came on and it flashed for the 02 sensor...but it still doesnt come on as soon as i turn the car on...yet it flashed when the CEL was on!! WTF?
Any ideas??

normal condition is that when you turn your ignition switch to the on position, the Check Engine Light will come on for 2 seconds, then go out - if you have no codes stored the ECU LED will not be on nor will it be flashing - it only flashes when it has a code stored - it will continue to flash everytime you turn the ignition switch to the on position, even if the Check Engine Light is not on - it will continue until you reset the ECU - if you have a Check Engine Light and you turn the ignition switch off, obviously it goes out, however, the next time you turn it on, the CEL will be on for 2 seconds and then go out, unless it detects another problem for which it hasn't already stored a code
