stock valves vs aftermarket
I'm not sure about this but i sthink that stock valves are the best to go with compare to aftermarket valves. Correct me if i am wrong. I dont know about the springs retainers and seals though. somebody help me out please
for what purpose? there are different kinds of aftermarket valves to choose from. stocks are great for most applications. you can use aftermarket valves to increase compression slightly, get them oversized, and they have different tensile strengths and coatings. all depends on your setup and needs.
If the head is to remain mostly stock, my advice is to use OEM valves... But, if you are getting the head built, might as well go w/ some stainless valves. Get some bronze valve guides installed along w/ the valves, as stainless valves have been known to cause excess wear to oem guides.
12:1 is not all that high. stock valves are fine for something like that. if you want to boost compression slightly more, you can get flat valves instead of dish(like stock) and you might get up to about 12.3-12.4. then maybe a thin head gasket for a bit more compression. or get some oversized valves, valve job, etc, and increase airflow through the head. there are many options and 12:1 is pretty mild as far as high compression goes.

I would say that OEM ITR valves will be sufficient w/ a good port-n-polish from the likes of Alaniz (biased
) or some other quality names in the market. Just do a search for port and polish and some names should come up....

Do you have any numbers for us to measure or is this an opinion? How do you know they work great? Let us know...thats what this thread is about...
